Default 17 or 20 inch wheels on 37's???

What do you guys think would look better on a unlimited black rubicon on 37's ? This is my daily driver. I do not do any serious off roading. Any suggestions on brand of wheel? Pics are welcomed. Thanks everyone for the help. Oh, and i'm looking to get the wheels in black.

When I was looking at rims, this is what I remember people telling me...

the more rubber you have the better for wheeling
the more rim the better for cornering on pavement

For me I like wheeling so i went for the more rubber...

Wow, I've never heard of that before. I wonder if that is true. If it is I think it is a no brainer since this in my daily driver.

Like everything, those two "ideas" are good in moderation.

Usually the range of wheel size discussed in this topic is 15-18 inches. I am sure that you will find differing opinions, but IMO, dubs have no place offroad and the on the road it simply a matter of taste not handling.

I am running the stock 18" wheels and I would not got any larger than that, because I have be too careful with them when aired down.

Personally, 17's . But, if you don't wheel much, 20" wheels don't look bad on 37" tires. It's really just a matter of taste.

You want sidewall stability ON the road but you want your sidewalls to flex OFF the road. So it is inherently true. The longer the sidewall is the more it will bend under a load which is desirable offroad. That being said, your rubicon has lockers, go with whichever you want. A locked up rubi on 17's will probly do better than a locked up rubi on 20's but a locked up rubi on 20's will do better than ax X model unlocked on 17's. You'd still be decently placed in the pecking order, haha.

However 20's and 37's have slightly more sidewall than the rubicons 17's and 32's so you would stay roughly the same or better regarding road manners while increasing your offroad ability substantially. The reason I think it would improve road manners is because the wider tire will tread more confidently in an oh shit situation but may increase the tire tendancy to wander, so it's a bit of give and take.

keep in mind that the bigger the rim size, the more the tires will cost you. I had stock 18's and ended up buying 16" steel wheels and 33" tires for less than the price of 33" tires alone. Just keep in mind that with a bigger rim size tires can be extremely expensive. Make sure you check prices on tires for both rim sizes before making your decision.

Dignify.

The fact that you took the time to write a response is more empowering than if you just skipped the topic entirely.
