I spoke with the Jeep parts counter guy on Wednesday. He said he just took a class on Uconnect. The Uconnect features on are rasdios will work after we add a kit. The kit includes a control module and a mike/speaker. He said he didn't have the price yet, but the price range for the other DC cars was around $120. He said it should be available in January. The module is pictured in the Dodge Nitro or Dodge Ram (07) brochures.

Thats interesting.. My dealer told me after they sold me the Jeep that the U-Connect will never be available for the Wrangler .. Therefore I made them give me a $350 credit in the parts dept... They did with no problem..

Why Put The Buttons There If There Is Not Going To Be A Kit ???
'cause it's the same radio that comes in the Sebring and Nitro.

sounds like a typical "parts department" (or auto parts store) thing. if it is'nt in there computer under wrangler (or what ever) then it's not avail. ,they can't figure out that it's the same part in the other vehicles...just get the part for a 200? sebring or nitro and put the darn thing in your wrangler.
and how did you guys get $$ off for the radio not having that option ??

and how did you guys get $$ off for the radio not having that option ??In my case, the salesman at the dealership made a big deal over the u-connect on my radio during the test-drive. When I got it home and couldn't get the u-connect to work, I called the dealership and they told me it just needed to be "turned on" and to bring it in (not exactly close to home) and they'd take care of it. Well, of course, it didn't just need to be "turned on", it needed a part-- which they said they would get and install for free. When they realized the part wasn't available, they offered me a credit instead.
I think they did the honorable thing, considering it was something I thought I was getting when I negotiated the price of the Jeep...

Hello WranglinMan,
My name is Miguel and I too am a Marketing Representative with the Dodge Information Center. First off, I would like to inform you as to the reasoning why this feature is not available in the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler models. The main reasoning behind why that particular option is not available is that since the vehicle's windshield can fold completely forward, the wiring could not be accomodated in the same manner that it would for a Dodge Magnum or a Chrysler 300. Furthermore, although the two little buttons atop the unit do exist, it would be an innefectual expenditure to create REC radios without those particular buttons for Jeep Wrangler models alone. Trust me, if I were in your position, I would feel the same way. I completely understand your frustration. Upon further research with the Mopar Accessories web site and my immediate Jeep Senior CSR, that particular option is in contention for release on the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4-door models, however, we have yet to receive an official response as to if or when this particular component will be available as a Mopar Aftermarket add-on. My best suggestion for you at this point would be to stay posted primarily with your local Jeep dealership for updates as they become available. If you happen to have any additional questions/comments, feel free to post. I would be more than happy to be of assistance.

The local Jeep dealerships are still telling everybody about the wonderful handsfree uconnect feature the Jeep Wrangler has.
