Just got the call from the dealership - Tyler Jeep in Niles, MI. My JK is in! Ordered in the last week of July. Unlimited Saraha with 18 inch wheels and most of the toys for $28,122 (Will let you know the sticker later, but it's about $1200 under sticker, $300 above invoice. Dealership is about 2 hours away from my home in Chicago, but everybody here is quoting sticker+. Silver. 4x4 (still wierd having to specify that) Auto. Duel roof, Sirius, sub-woofer, 4.11 axle. upgraded seats. No side air bags, no 6-disc....it was originally due for pick up Aug. 17 and I've been waking up everday for 6 weeks wondering if today is the day. Will post pix and details in the next couple days. So jacked up right now!!
Question: Shoud I expect the dealership to walk me through the on/off roof process, front windows, on/off doors, etc. or is that up to me?

Oh man congradulations!!! Man, I feel like everyone is getting their JK except for me. Please do post some pics as soon as you can so that we can all drool over em. :D
Regarding your question, your Jeep should come with a good "how-to" instructional video that will go through everything. Well, at least my TJ did when I got it :)

I would learn to put the top up/down on my own. Most of the sales people I have talked to pretend to know what they are doing but really don't. I have seen them fold rear windows in without taking them off. One new JK I saw had one of the supports snapped off already. Anyone :embarrased:  who buys it will have to get a new top and windows before they take it home.

Yeah I'm sure there are knowledgeable salespeople out there, I just have'nt run into any yet.
The guys I got mine from had the presence of mind to take the windows out, but they didnt fold the rof right either. you can tell if you have it wrong becase the frame will jut up very closely to the angle of the real rollbar. At the time that seemed like a plausable place for it to be, but once I read the manual I saw what was done wrong. Who ever WOL is working with seems to have it together pretty well.

I have to agree. Most of the salesmen don't know squat about Jeeps and that's why I've done the write-ups that I did. Fortunately, Jeff at Don-A-Vee is a Jeeper and was totally cool about helping me to figure things out and do my write-ups. Hopefully, they will be able to help others out there :)

Loving life. Picked it up Tuesday after I got the magic phone call Monday night. Drove 2.5 hours to Tyler Jeep in Niles, MI. Great experience. Paperwork all ready to go, stuck to the terms we agreed to months earlier on the phone...couldn't have been more helpful, even volunteered to take these pix for the blog. Bought for $28,122, which is about $1,400 under sticker. JK 4x4 Unlimited Sahara with all power, dual tops, tow hitch, easy-clean seats, Sirius with sub-woofer. Quick impessions:
Very smooth drive. Quiet as my Lexus RX300 with hard top off. Took off the front panels for the drive home, and even at 80 miles an hour, could easily hear the booming stereo...the subwoofer base is so good I thought I had a vibration problem on the steering wheel at first. Very comfortable. There's a perfect place to stick you left elbow along along the bottom of the window with the left hand on the wheel, which is how I roll. Very impressed with the sound system. Probably just cheap plastic but I really like the silver frame around the gauges versus the plain black. I'm 6-2 and didn't have any problems at all with the roll bar above me. But if my legs were two inches longer I wouldn't have enough leg room. Plenty of power off the line...big difference in milage on the highway, which averaged only 16 at 80 mpg, but quickly spiked to 18 when I pulled it down to 65. Love the cruice control stick which lets you increase/decrease speed by tapping on it. Another nice feature: the rear seats only fold down if the front seatback is far up enough to allow for it. Once I get used to it, I'll have the front panels on/off in less than a minute. So quiet and smooth. I stopped in downtown Chicago to meet a buddy on the way home and had a crowd of 12 around it minutes. Minor, and I mean minor, annoyances: Banged my kneecap hard twice getting out; wish they carried over the steering wheel controls for stereo and cruise control, glare on the stereo with the front panels off is severe...center console is too low to serve as an arm rest, you find yourself tilting down to reach it.
There was a base "X" on the lot, and all I can say is pay the extra $$$ for the bigger wheels. Those tiny 16s on the X look silly. I also hate the huge black rubber front fenders, but that's me. No offense, Rubi guys. Seats are comfortable but the upgraded seats didn't overwhelm me with a quality feel like the old green Sahara seats did. Did I say smooth and quiet, but with plenty of get up? By far the best jeep ever made! As for timing, I ordered mine the 3rd week of July. Was told that some dealers are not ordering more than a couple '07s until they get rid of the '06s. Questions? Let me know and I'll do the best I can.

Will keep trying...i'm told the file is too large. JKInsider, any suggestions?

Open up the file in Microsoft paint, click on image, then click "strech/skew", and under the stretch box type in 50% vertical and 50% horizontal, ok, then save as and save it as a .jpg file. It should make the file size really small.
