Any problems with the ESP light or bump-steer?

There might be some problems with the ESP but we didn't have enough time to get the steering wheel dead on center yet. Hopefully we will by today. As far as bumpsteer goes, I don't think so but I haven't driven it so I don't know for sure. Again, I hope to get a better look at things today. :)

Me too.
I really want to do a 2-2.5" lift, some decent rims/tires, and a basic winch on for playing in the woods. If i could find some Rubicon take-offs i would even settle for those. But alas, too many kids, i need to be happy i got a Jeep at all. :naw:
So, i will just have to live vicariously through people with more play $ than me!

Which Full traction lift did you buy? Econo? Premium? Ultimate?
Which shocks did you select?
Very interested in the ESP issues if any!
wayoflife
12-19-2006, 06:26 PM
Rubimon bought the 3" Econo Lift with the M-Force Shocks. And, if you don't get the steering wheel dead center, you will experience ESP issues.
Sorry Rubimon if I was speaking for ya but I thought I might be able to answer a few simple questions until you got back behind your computre :D

so the alignment of the steering wheel causes the esp malfunction?
Would the premium lift help that issue?
Shock wise, I assume the M-force are the way to go....
Thanks ordering next week, make all my answers easy!

So does your dealership still honour warranty on your lifted jeeps? I'm getting mine soon but don't plan on lifting it yet, atleast I don't think so, I have a project TJ in the works still. But its hard not to lift the JK.
Jeep looks good brah!

so the alignment of the steering wheel causes the esp malfunction?
I wouldn't exactly call it a "malfunction" - more rather, it's activating because your tires are going straight and your steering wheel is turned. Need I say, another condition in driving that would cause this scenario is a slide :eek!:
Would the premium lift help that issue?
Not exactly. The steering wheel would need to be re-centered with this kit too. What the Premium Lift will do for you is give you an adjustable front track bar and lower control arms. The track bar will allow you to recenter your axle back to stock without any compromises in handling and the lower control arms will reposition your axles under your Jeep where they should be. This is important as it will help to address your caster by bringing it back closer to stock as well.
Shock wise, I assume the M-force are the way to go....
Oh yeah, most definitely :yup:

Finally some decent pictures of the light greystone. I have to say I'm pleased I went with that color for my 4dr rubi. Looks good Rubimon, looking forward to seeing the writeup and the 35s!

any sway bar disco's or was this not an issue?
Rubimon
12-21-2006, 12:44 AM
The front sway bar with disconnects were not used as it is a Rubicon with e-discos. The back stock ones were brought to the front. If my new wheels arrive tomorrow, (I hope, they were supposed to arrive today) then we can post some pictures with 35's on it. I will be anxious to see if the spare tire fits!

By the way, the Full Traction lift is nice, and ordering it from Northridge 4x4 was an awesome purchase friendly experience. :2thumbs: I placed the order via the internet and Dave called me right back (on the phone) to give me some payment/shipping/delivery information. He even notified me when it was shipping from Full Traction so I could watch for it. Thanks Dave, great service! You will make it easy to spend more hard earned $$$$ with you.
Watch for Wayoflife's write up, as I am sure it will be full of helpful photos and hints to make your install go alot quicker!
My big hint for the day: when sitting out side the wheel well and ratcheting towards yourself, righty tighty and lefty loosy are a** backwards:thinking:
"Man they put that one on tight"LOL:rotflmao1: (That was me, not wayoflife. I am secure enough in my manliness to admit that!)

Does it drive much different. will you be planning on new gears. Any problems that you encounter during the addition of the lift. I must admit I am little bit hesitant to add a lift and tires now from all these post of guys having issues. It drives so nice now but I do want to add more clearance and bumpers. Can you put my mind at ease

Let me drive it a few days and I will give you my opinion. I did the economy lift which doesn't give you any way to make up for the change in caster due to the lift. That can give you the feeling of slight wandering, but not too bad. I do want to fix it though, so I have ordered the Full Traction adj. upper control arms which should take care of that. I will let you know about the gearing after I drive the freeways, etc. I will probably regear down the road but I don't think there will be any rush, especially once I get my computer flashed to adj for the 35" tires. That will help with speedometer/odometer but more importantly the auto trans shift points.
Like you I like being up higher and I certainly like the look better, but I want it to feel as close to the stock ride as possible.

Looks great! I want the same thing but 4 door. Just have to sell my current jeep first. Please keep us posted with how everything works. Is the fulltraction lift a true 3"? I now some places advertise 4" lift that runs about 2 3/4" but I wont mention any names ( skyjacker ). Thanks!

thanks for the reply..that offers me lots of advice-thanks!..I wouldnt have known that about the computer and auto tran.. my rubicon unlimited is (khaki-lol) auto trans as well. How much you think your local dealer will charge you for flashing and tweaking your auto trans??? You think it will really help your shift points?

I heard it's $85 to flash but I might fall under that TSB. Mine was manufactured the same week as the cut off. I think it will help up hills ??? I was driving around today. It is not perfect yet, but I love it. I think those last few add-ons will make the difference. I would think with your longer wheel base, things would be less pronounced.

Hi there, nice JK!
Is the backspacing of hose rims good enough to prevent tire rubbing? Or did you add wheel spacers?
thanks
