Oh, yeah and I should probably mention that I have always been a big jeep fan. One of my first vehicles was a 1987 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, I was 16. I beat it up pretty bad, almost drowned it in the winter in a river when I didn't know the 4WD wasn't working, and romped it constantly harder and faster than it was meant to be... and I absolutely loved it. I had to sell it to go to college and have strayed since but the jeep blood is still in me, I'm sure it won't be long until I buy another.

Welcome. I just bought my BFG M/Ts from a Discount Tire this week...
I plan on buying my tires and wheels from you when I get the money together for lift and all. I went to browse some tires and wheels yesterday and I have to say that your browsing capability on your website is practically worthless. Are there any plans to make it functional?

Worthless is a pretty strong word. The search options work pretty well but unfortunately right now we don't have a lot of wheels in stock for the new 2007 Jeep Wrangler. We have more wheels on order and should be able to special order almost anything you want. Here's the skinny on searching.
If you want to see all the wheels we carry you can search wheels by brand. The downfall to this is that it will show you ALL the wheels for each brand and will not narrow them down to what fits your vehicle. On new fitments like the 2007 Jeep wrangler where the options are limited, you have a higher chance of pulling up options that are not made for your vehicle.
If you only want to see wheels that fit your vehicle you can search by vehicle. This search option will bring up the wheels that we have in stock. Enter the year make and model of your Jeep and click "go". choose the size you want and your options will come up. This search option only pulls up wheels and tires that will properly fit your vehicle with stock suspension. This will change shortly as we are getting legal approval to add the new 2007 Jeep Wrangler lifted options to our fitment guide.
A third way you can search for wheels, and the easiest way right now for the wrangler is to search by size and bolt pattern. If you want to see all the 17" options we have in stock in your Jeep's bolt pattern click on the "wheels" tab, click search "by size", enter the desired size, enter the bolt pattern for your jeep and click "go". This will pull up all the wheels in that size and bolt pattern. It will pull up wheels with greater widths and lower or higher offsets than the ones shown under the search by vehicle option. If you search this way and find something you like please confirm the fitment with one of our salesman. Searching this way does not guaranty a sure fit.
Here is some information that may or may not some of you.
Year Bolt Pattern Original wheel Offset
2007+ 5x127 45mm
2006-1986 5x114.3 most 32mm or 25 w/some exceptions
If you would like help in determining the offset/backspacing for your particular lifted or stock wrangler by all means send me a PM, If I get a lot of the same questions I'll start a thread.
I will keep you all updated on the changes to the fitment guide and wheel search options. Part of the reason I am on here is to get feedback from you guys. Your opinions are what we look for so that we can make the improvements to better serve you. If you have a suggestion please PM or email it to me @ travis.comfort@discounttireco.com
I hope this addresses your search questions.
Thank you for the information. I'm in the research phase as well as the procurement phase. I have to get through my purchasing department (and she can be tough). :)
There are some usability issues that make the searches frustrating -- and therefore almost useless. If I were Joe User I would become frustrated soon and call or worse search elsewhere. And to clarify this in case it wasn't clear, I say this all to help not to be critical. For example, when I get my results and click the back button it doesn't remember any of the values I had specified (the site is saving cookies, so I don't know why it's not saving that).
You didn't really ask my opinion, but I'll offer it nontheless. I'd recommend a filtered approach instead of the hunt and peck approach used (granted it's allot easier to find what you want if you know pretty close what you want, but that's not always the case). The filtered approach would display a list of criteria that you could use to narrow down your search and the displayed results would get progressively smaller as more and more criteria were applied. This makes changing your result set really easy (a few clicks vs. multiple pages and button clicks).
What I'm kind of looking at now is doing a 16 inch wheel on a 35 or 36 mud tire. I'm not sure what width of rim or tire, but 8 and 12.5 didn't seem unreasonable. I'd probably need 4.5" backspacing with that configuration. But, there's probably some wiggle room in all of that.

You have plenty of great brands but I'm obsessed with Interco... thinking of picking them up any time soon? (and no I don't have any affiliation with them, just looking for some IROK's mounted and balanced inexpensively :D )

By the way, after re-reading this it isn't clear that I meant all on the same page. No page changes just postbacks. Amazon does this in some of their areas, and Sears does it for appliances at least.

Hi TravisDTD,
Welcome.
I have a question.
I've been in search of a 33-34" X18 with no greater than a 12.50 width, MT or agressive AT. I am having a very troubled time finding one like that for $250 or less. Can you recommend a tire for me?
Thanks
I got my Nitto Terra Grapps fro DTD. Fast shipping and a great price.

Great feedback, I will take your suggestions to our web guys. I agree it would be easier to make more selections on one page instead of page-by-page. As for the cookies, I'll find out if we can get those ones working.
For your wheels and tires, You could run the 16x8's on the 12.5's but they are going to be ballooned out. I'd try to get a little wider wheel maybe even a 16x8.5 would be a little better, a 16x10 would be ideal for the 12.5" width. (Just an FYI People run the 8's and 8.5" with 12.5's and sometimes even wider tires but most tire manufactures don't recomend this setup and if you do have a claim consider your tire warranty void.)

I haven't heard anything about us taking on Interco but let me know exactly what you are looking for and we'll do our best to get you what you need.

Try looking up metric sizes that are close, I did a quick search and found the same trouble you did, It looks like there just aren't too many options out there. I did find the Nitto Terra Grappler and I think it would be a great tire for you.
Nitto makes it in a 285.65.18 They are equal to about: 32.5x11.25-18 This one is actually under your price range and they also make it in a 275.70.18 if you want a little taller tire. They are equal to 33.15x10.82-18, Nitto Terra Grappler in this size is also under your price range.
If you can sqeeze a 35x12.50-18 under there the Nitto Mud Grapplers are pretty close to your price range and are very aggressive.
Take a look at them on our website and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hmm.. I was under the impression allot of people went with the 8 inch wide rims, because the bead stayed better when you air down. Anyone have any experience on that?
I used to run 33/12.5 on a 16" rim. I never air them down for off road use however I did get a funny ware pattern in the center of the tire. I often wanted to go to a 10" rim however not to many dealers would put them on my rig.

This is a great question. I don't have personal experience with it. I'll post up a thread in the modified JK forum for some input. If you really want a tight bead under low pressure Bead locked wheels will do the trick.
It would need to be street legal, so I'd have to go to internal bead locks which would really drive up the cost. I'm not looking at 5 psi or anything, but I don't want to lose the bead at 12-15 psi.

Sent you both PM's. The BGF KM2's should be instock in our warehouses in about a week and a half. BFG has most of the sizes in stock. We can order them for you, they typically take 7-10 business days. Pricing on these tires should be up in the next few days. If you need it before them shoot me and email or give one of our sales agents a call for a quicker reply. 888.459.4080

I wanted to ask whether it is a company wide policy that Discount Tire does not mount tires on rims when wheel spacers are involved? Long story, but I almost got in a real bind when I was trying to get my new tires mounted out of town and after waiting over an hour found out they would not do it.
Good customer service though, the guy felt bad enough for me waiting to call around town for me and found a place. It was in Vegas, and I was leaving town next day and needed the tires mounted that Saturday. I ended up going to a Goodyear tire store couple miles away.

My PM was in regard to the Cooper STT's also. I'm looking for 35's for a 17 wheel. They are a difficult tire to find online. I was counting on being able to see them easily on Discount Tire's site but as someone earlier stated, it ain't easy to navigate.

We do have a company policy against using spacers. We believe them to be unsafe for road use. I am sorry to hear you had trouble at one of our stores in getting your wheels and tires mounted but I am glad to hear they were able to find someone that would do them for you.

BFG has discontinued this size in the old style. I called them this morning to see if we could still get them but they too are completely out of stock. We do have the KM2's in stock in our Ohio warehouse.
