I installed my cb!!!, now I am setting the swr - I have channel 1 reading 1.8 and channel 40 reading 1.6 - the 4' firestick tip is screwed out about an inch.
If I adjust tip up, I can flip these readings (roughly 1=1.5 and 40=1.8)...however I cannot get them any closer together...and lower...are these setting acceptable? Should channel 1 be lower than 40? I know nothing about cb's...will I just lose distance?

Cobra 75 wx st-4' firestick, 18ft coax, teraflex mount.

Maybe a couple of things to consider... Add a ground strap to the mount and ground it to the frame or somewhere else. Make sure any extra coax isn't just coiled up, but rather make a figure 8 out of it or route it so it isn't just coiled up. Decide where you want to operate, say channel 10 and tune your antenna to that frequency. If you want to operate on all 40 channels, then tune it as low as you can on channel 20 and that should give you a pretty even spread across the 40 channels. I have fooled with cb and ham radio for over 20 years so I have picked up a few tricks that I am sharing with you. Good luck.

Your SWR sounds like it's pretty good as it is. Mine is good on CH19, very low on 40, and slightly high (but still acceptable) on CH1. I need to raise the nut a bit to get it better on CH1.
