Very Nice, How does it ride after the lift ? Were there any hints / problems solved when installing the lift , that can be avoided by the next guy. Chris

The 3" & 4" lifts are where it's at. I love the stance and look of the meats. Very nice.

can we get a shot strait on from the front to see how far the wheels are past the fender flairs...
looks great!
Wow...what a difference! Looks much better compared to stock.
How long did it take to install the lift?
Did you have any problems with the installation (i.e. directions weren't clear, etc.)?
Thanks.

Very nice looking combinaton of lift/tire and wheels.
The Pic's will definetly give the people here something to consider.
Enjoy!
It's crazy how wimpy the stock wheels and tires look.
The JK should come with stock 33" rubber with a tread sticking out past the fender edge. The rubber on those 16s are just miserable.
Nice rims!

Very nice. I like the color. Classic for the Jeep. Good choice on the wheels too.

I know that's a 4" lift and all, but doesn't it look like a 3" lift on the rear and a 4" lift on the front? I know that the space over the rear tires is about the same (if not less) than the 3" Full Traction on my Rubicon. I know that it definitely takes out the rake. Just an observation.

We installed the lift at home and didn't run into any problems.....the directions were clear and everything went together nicely.
As for costs the lift was $1100 with shocks, the steering stabilizer and I bought the 3/4" spacers which we haven't put in yet.
The wheels were where I spent most of my money $1950 for 5 and I can't even mount the spare yet......it's too big and too heavy for the stock mount.
The tires were $1000 but that was a deal through a friend :yup:
All in all it was worth it I love the way it came out!!!

I'll keep an eye out for ya :rotflmao1:
As far as the ride goes......it's a little bit stiffer than it was before but it's not that big of a difference that you really notice it. The driveline hasn't been a problem at all. I was told I would have to buy a new yoke so that it wouldn't vibrate but I decided to see how it was before I spent the extra money and it doesn't vibrate at all so I don't think it's necessary. The only thing I did notice is at highway speeds the steering seems a little sloppy. I'm going to get the 4" dropped pitman arm to put the steering angle back to stock and see if that fixes it......if not I'm thinking I might need to get a different track bar or something! It's not bad but it's not great either so that's part is still a work in progress.

The problem with the factory driveline won't be vibrations as the CV style joint is made for extreme angles. The problem will most likely come from constantly being in this steeper angle and subsequently wearing out the boot. Once the boot is compromised, water and dirt can get inside and eventually cause it to fail.
As far as the sloppy steering goes, I would recommend against the installation of a dropped pitman arm but rather install an adjustable front track bar instead. This should recenter your axle and get rid of any tracking you are experiencing. If you're Jeep still wanders after that, your caster angle is most likely too close to zero and you'll need a set of adjustable upper contol arms to adjust that back to stock which is +4.2°

Nice looking rig. Have you tried the spare tire, I have the same ones. It touches but it fits. Actually the bumber helps carry the weight.

Caligirl,
Did you do any modifications to the drivelines? I have heard from some that a 4" lift on the unlimited might need some driveline work to keep vibrations from occurring, and I have also heard others say it is not necessary. Are you experiencing anything? P.S. Jeep looks great! ALso, how do you like the day-to-day ride on the Toyo's? I will be using mine for occasional road driving and trail rides, so I want something that rides nice and isn't too noisy on the road.

I am doing the same two mods that wayoflife mentioned, hopefully in about a week. Actually, he'll be helping me and I am sure he will be posting a write up on the project-jk site. Parts are supposed to ship out next week. I am also experiencing the same tracking feeling you are on the freeway. Hopefully that takes care of it. Stay tuned!
