Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I finally finished my Full Traction 3" Economy Lift installation write-up and it can now be seen on the homepage of Project-JK.com (http://www.project-jk.com) or by clicking on the link below:
Full Traction 3" Economy Lift Installation Write-Up (http://project-jk.com/index.php/?p=81)
I apologize for not getting this done sooner but with the holidays and all, it was kind of hard to get to until now. Anyways, if you have any questions, please feel free to comment here or directly on the write-up
A special thanks needs to go to Rubimon for allowing me to help him install this lift kit on his JK. With out him, this write-up wouldn't have been possible.

Thanks :)
Regarding the steering knuckles, they were just starting to get some color. But, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they fill in a take on a nice even ruddy brown tone. ;)

Well, in all fairness, we spent a lot of time taking tons of photos and notes for the write-up and so in all, it probably took us about 6 hours but I would bet it could be done in 4 hours or less.

It is kind of hard to say. I think when hitting bumps it might be a little stiffer. I think there is also a little more of a float or sway attributed to being up higher with taller coils. Not a bad thing , just different. Some of that maybe associated with the change in caster. I am going to put on FT upper adj. control arms to try an bring that back to stock. I will let you know how it works out.

thanks...and will be looking foward to hearing about the adjustable arms...
my wife said I can do what ever I want to the jeep (when ever is shows up) as long as the ride is still "nice" so I'm courious about the the diff companys spring rates....

Why are you going to go with adjustable uppers before getting the lowers? I am planning on doing the lift you have but thought I might as well go with the kit that came with lowers. While not adjustable, they should fix the castor problem. So, would it be better to go the route you went and then get the adjustable uppers?
Just trying to understand the difference between each route.
Thanks and your jeep looks fantastic,
Bryan

You are correct, the new LCA's will be a bit longer to compensate for the lift and will most likely correct your caster angle. And, adjustable front UCA's are designed specifically to set your caster to whatever angle you need. Needless to say, both will deliver the solution you are looking for. I think for Rubimon, being that he's starting off with an Economy Kit, just getting the front adjustable UCA's make more sense and lets face it, they are a bit cheaper too ;)

I guess that answers my question exactly then. I had forgot about the rear in that. Really, the different angle isn't that big of an issue on the rear. Really, in the long run the UCA's are the better choice since upgrading to adjustable UCA's and LCA's F/R is gonna happen someday. Now I have another choice to think about.
These coil spring setups are a lot different than leaf springs.

Did you guys have to drill out the front track-bar braket mounting hole? I had to do this on mine, and everyone I've talked to that has installed this kit so far has found that one of the holes is about 1/8" to 1/4" too far inboard. Just curious if this is true across the board.
Like you guys, I'm going to go with an adjustable front track bar ASAP!

Yes, we had to but that doesn't mean anything. From what I understand, the brackets that are off aren't all off in the same way even though they are made exactly the same.

My 2" Econo Lift went on in 2 hours flat. The front bracket bolted on correctly - and after adjusting the steering wheel it works great. I did have a bit of a problem with the rear spacers(which were defective) - but Full Traction took care of me and it rides great. Like I said in previous posts - I tow an enclosed 5 x 8 trailer loaded with tools every day - and at 70 mph i can take my hands off the wheel. I must have a Wednesday jk. Still waiting on my 35'' BFG"s.

Brit, are you still planning on putting the BFG's on your OEM 18's? I'm very interested to see how that looks as that is what I plan on doing.

Just curios about the rear spacer problem you Had ?
I just did the same lift this past weekend and didn't notice anything wrong with the spacers (although not having done one before I may not have noticed)
Likewise on the ride, couldn't be happier but still haven't pulled my 6.5 X 12 ATV trailer loaded since the lift.

I think they were made out of the wrong kind of rubber which would allow his springs to come loose. I believe that is a problem of the past. His was one of the first ones.

Hey Eddie and Rubimon; I will be installing the FT 3" Ultimate Lift with the same Toyo tires on my Rubicon... Actually 35×12.5×17 using the stock wheels.. Do you think I will be able to just use 1.5″ wheel spacers and not have an issue.. ??
Thanks.. Jay
