I've read that a lot of people have powered their CBs right off the battery. I'd like to wire mine to the cigarette lighter so the ignition can kill the power as well. Has anyone done this?

I'm trying to figure out how to take the dash apart, and am having trouble. I don't want to force anything and break it. Please help!

the center console is real easy...

just pry up the back of the top plate and it comes off. Take out the radio, then the center piece comes out with 4 bolts..real simple. If you get stuck just let us know...

Once you get the center stack loose you'll be able to easily access the cig adapter wires.

Or just tap off of the mygig harness that is right underneath the black piece on top. :yup:

I got the black top piece off and took the four bolts that appear to be keeping the front trim piece in check. After that I got two clips undone near the top (so that the radio is exposed and the two vents pull from their locations), but everything from the A/C controls down seems to be retained with something other than the clips.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just need power and tuning and my install will be done!!

Thanks!

Your not being wimpy, I was installing a cooltech versamount for my cb mic this weekend and had the same exact problem, the instructions say to pull gently, but it takes a lot more than "gently" :yup:
