All,
Just got back from the dealership and I saw (with my own eyes) a newsletter that showed November 1 as the official date that you can order the 20GB Mygig infotainment system with your new JK. BTW- the Mygig will be available as a Mopar part around the same time for those of you that already bought your JKs and want to upgrade.

As cool as I really think the MyGig system is, I just can't get myself to kick down that kind of cash for a head unit. But then, that's just me. Maybe I'll be able to pick one up on eBay for less in a few years :)

So will mygig ship with myduct tape for your soft top? High dollar systems are just begging for someone enter uninvited.

funny yet so true... if i were to get an expensive head unit thought is would be a flip out navi/dvd/cd/tuner combo like those from alpine and pioneer. Atleast those are a little bit less noticeable when tucked into the dash.

This thing is made my Alpine, as I recall. For the price, just get a quality Alpine head unit, and upgrade the speakers while you're at it. You're still going to end up spending less money.

hehe Im sure you'll be able to find cjsjeep's mygig at a reasonable price at a local pawn shop once the bad guys get it. lol I dunno what DC was thinking making so many of these. they coulda just saved money and made 2 or 3, then once those got stolen and recycled somebody else could get em and so on and so on. Even removable faces arent a real deturrant. I had a nice system stolen out of my old camaro and it had the face detatched when it was ripped off. Because lets face it, nobody carries their face with them, the put it in the case under the seat. that cost me a pretty penny, not to replace the sterio, but to replace the side window, and t-top after some nice work done with a brick, and to replace the entire console they ripped up with a screw driver tryin to get it out. :(

What they mean when they say MYGig will be available on 12-18 is that on 12-18 they are going to tell you what date it will really be available. Jan1? Feb1?:yup:
JPRS51
10-16-2006, 10:10 AM
That means that 12/18 is the Job 1 date. Job 1 means that is the first day that retail units will be built with the MyGig as an option. You should be able to place an order for one wiht that option a coupel weeks earlier.
What it comes down to is the earliest you will see a JK on a dealers lot with MyGig is about 3 weeks after Job 1 date of 12/18.

I had my dealer check (to presumable order) on Nov 1 and RER was still not in the system! Has anyone had any luck or have an updated order date? Aftermarket options seem more acceptable with each passing day but I really wanted the MyGiG...

I opted not to get the MyGig cause of the cost and delays! I already have an iPod and a portable DVD player anyway, so I just orded mine w/ the upgraded 6 disc CD/DVD Audio System...I'll most likely get the Mopar/Garmin Trail Guide navigation system...
I ordered mine with the MyGig. But based on some of the posts from Don-A-Vee it is really probably just sitting on the dealers desk waiting to submit once the system allows the orders to be placed. They told me they would submit it but it would be on hold. (No VON yet) Since it should be available to order the 2nd or 3rd week of November I am just going to wait till it happens. I want the MyGig and don't want the hassle of an after market system. This is the first vehicle I am ordering in a while so I am getting it with what I want on it.:yup:

As of yesterday I checked and the MyGigi was still not available in TOPS (our ordering system). Anyone who has "placed" and order for a Wrangler with unfortunately has nothing more than an order written on paper.
I will post as soon as the option is available for order.

Dang it, why must DC taunt us? I just saw a commercial advertising the sirius satellite radio in the "new jeep wrangler unlimited". The kicker... it was shown being used on a MyGIG system.
I am hoping they open it up for ordering Monday or Tuesday or it won't be until the 29th of Novmeber. So much for a XMas present.

if "XMas" was pointing toward XM radio you would be disappointed anyway, MyGIG only has sirius.
I know I have 2 XM radio's now. Looks like I'll be learning to like Sirius. The XM are portable so when I ride my bike or walk I have XM and wheeling will be Sirius. The best of both worlds. That is if DC ever releases the MyGig.

Nothing today, but it is a corporate holiday for the factory. If they open up ordering for it this week I would expect it tomorrow.
We will have to wait and see.

mygig is available for purchase on the mopar website, is that a good sign???
Guess not. Jeff from Don-A-Vee hasn't posted anything today so I am guessing it won't be released for ordering now till the 29th based on one of his other posts.

MyGig is still not available for order. I also checked into the parts and it does not show that it is available for the dealer to order yet either.
It could come online as an order option at any time or day. But that also means that it could be today or it could be the 18th of December. They still show the 18th as the Job 1 date, so they would need to release the option on the order system a couple weeks before hand at minimum. That is of course if they do not try and push teh date back again.
Thanks for the update. Well I'll think positive . ANY day now. :) Thanks again.
It is really great how you take the time to answer all the questions.

No problem. If there is ever a question on the forums that I miss please let me know. I usually don't have enough time to monitor all the thread, especially as this site grows.
Thanks

Don A Vee- Can you see if the Mygig is available in the online parts catalog now? My JK went to D last Tuesday, so the only I shot I have to get the system is if I can order it through parts. I want to roll it up into the full Price of the JK.
BTW- If I am in D status, and I have Dec allocation, and my dealer has allocation available, should my JK be built on the 29th of Nov?

The MyGig part number does show up in the parts inquiry system, but there are 0 units available in the entire US distribution system.
The factory does shut down for a period of 1-2 weeks during Christmas/New Year.

I was just wondering if anyone had heard if this is available yet in the ordering system since the 18th of Dec. is in two weeks. Or maybe they have pushed the date back again?
I would sure like to order this option if I have not gone to "D" status yet.

I think I've heard you will be able to but I know if I don't get it factory installed, I'll probably never get one.
I would much rather have it rolled into the payments than cough up the $1600 + cost of installation.:eek!:

Nope not yet. I am hoping for Monday but I have been hoping that for 6 weeks now. Checked Jeep. COM and it now says late availability. At this rate the 08's will be ready to order.

Has anyone else heard if these are now available in the ordering system?

Still not available as of this morning. It should have been in the order system a couple weeks ago. Today was supposed to be Job 1. I would expect that they will announce another delay later today. Hopefully that is not the case and they open it up in the order system.

No. The U-Connect does not exist for the Jeep Wrangler. And it may never.

I've read all the posts with regard to Bluetooth connectivity. I've not seen anything with respect to literature that says that Bluetooth is available on the 6 disc DVD radio, even though it has the controls. However, everything formal I've read on the MyGig indicates it has Bluetooth capabilities. Hence, my question to Jeff. That's an expensive navigation system without the Bluetooth, regardless of the features and warranty. With it, it's competitive with other full function systems and worth the extra money, given the warranty.

The MyGig system does have the buttons integrated for the UConnect system, but they will not be functional on the Wrangler. UConnect will nto be an available feature on teh Wrangler.
The UConnect feature is a $200 feature on most vehicles made, Nav system run $1300 to $1600 depending on make /model. That is with no Bluetooth system. At $1595 this is a great feature and value on the vehicle, even without the Uconnect feature. Leaps an dbounds ahead of anything else that is offered by other car manufacturers.

Thanks Jeff,
Really appreciate your reply and honesty. Also, appreciate your loyalty to the product. However, I've got a hard time ordering a navigation system that has all the bluetooth buttons, but doesn't have the capabilities. I can get the unit at invoice and still don't think it is worth it. There are too many stand alone units out there that do a good job with navigation and have bluetooth capabilities that can be added to the cost of the 6 disc DVD unit and still come up well under the RER. I'm at a loss as to Chrysler's logic on this issue. Everything I've read says that the reason it's not available is because they have not been able to accommodate the folding windshield. If that's the reason, I'm betting that 99% of wranglers never see their windshield lowered, anyway. At any rate, as I understand it, this unit does go in other Chrysler vehicles that do have the U-connect capability. If that is truly the case, why couldn't a customer buy the necessary parts to effect the upgrade? (U-connect, auto dimming mirror; bluetooth module???) If you could do that, I would go for it, if for no other reason than the extended warranty.

There are some nice systems out there. I tend to be more loyal to the facotyr offered product in areas like this just because my brother has been through 3 different aftermarket nav system with major problems. I am sure that is not the case with all of them, but just personal experience.
