How about trying it. With the key out of the ignition does the steering wheel lock when you give it say half a turn?

Ok, I went out to the driveway and turned the wheel with the key out of the ignition.

Well, actually there arey new cars these days that do not have a steering wheel lock. I had a JK owner on another forum say his '08 JK did not have such a lock.. I figured he was wrong so came here to ask other '08 JK owners.

i don't think either of my grand cherokees lock ('99 & '05).
