Hey has anyone figured out if the handfree buttons on the radio do anything? I don't have bluetooth yet. The owners manual seems to have a loop to nowhere. See section yada yada. Section yada makes no mention of hands free operation.

I actually called DC on this, and apparently there was a mistake made at the factory with the face plates, the MP3/Sirrus model that has the uconnect buttons on it DOES NOT have hands free:sad:
They siad they are looking into aftermarket options now, but definatley sucks, I spent an hour trying to get my bluetooth phone to connect, but always just got uconnect not avail:mad:

:eek!: Yeah I think about my buying experience I was a little disappointed when we found out the Blue tooth didn't work after the purchase in the parking lot. The salesman had sure talked it up but then to find out it didn't even work pissed me off a bit. They're all whores.

That appears to be my experience. The more questions I ask, the less they seem to know. Then they want me to rate the salesman in the top percentile on a customer survey (which I haven't received yet). At first, I planned to be effusive with praise. But the more I think about it, the less enamored I am.
Soft top price. U-Connect. "Flashing". It's starting to add up. :naw:

My sales person told me about the uconnect too. Then when I called back to say that I did not have it she told me it would cost me $499.00. She still does not realize that it does not exist yet. And they asked me to give her a good score on the survey.

Thankfully, my salesman knows everything there is to know about Jeeps. The U-Connect button is not active, and doubtful it will ever be (though nothing is impossible). The module that connect to the radio is not installed, the wiring harness is not installed, and there's no place to put the microphone.
The head unit is from a Sebring, which does have U-Connect...hence why it has the buttons. My wife's Grand Cherokee does have the U-Connect, and it kicks butt. I'd love to have it in my Wrangler.

I too fell victim to this. But I got a free softop out of the deal, so I'm happy! :yup:
My dealer told me the same thing, that there's no UConnect out but they're planning to have it later on although it's prohibitively priced (above $400!!!!!!!!!!!). Incidentally, I lucked out with my dealer. She's really cool, knows her shit inside out and never bullshits when she doesn't have an answer.
On a side note, my girlfriend gave me a Jabra JX-10 Bluetooth headset and it's unreal. The sound quality is so amazing, the people on the other end all say that they hear me crystal clear and it has 6 or 7 hours of battery life. I just tuck my phone in my pocket and off I go. The next best thing to the UConnect!
