I have noticed on serveral occassions a small amount of white smoke or steam coming from the very front of my hood. At first I thought it was the exhaust from the car in front of me but today it happened when there was no cars in front of me.

The odd thing is that it is not constant and is more like a single poof or two. It is winter in buffalo so I am wondering if snow or water leaked in the hood at it is just steam. It has only happened 4-5 time in the month I have had the car and there is no smell of smoke. I have opened the hood right after and smell nothing.

Any idea what this might be? I know if I take it to the dealer they will not be able to reproduce it because it is very very rare.

I have had the same thing. It comes out of the hood. I think it is moisture coming out of the exterior of a warm radiator. It only does it when it is raining or snowing and I stop.

That is exactly what I noticed. I forgot to mention that I only see it when I stop.

Thanks. I wasn't overly worried about it but figured I would see what the experts:eek2: on this board say

it is just condensation , snow, rain water evaporating off of the radiator.:whew:

Happens every time after I was my Jk:D

When ever I'm done washing my jeep or when splashing in a big puddle, it looks like my jeep is on fire. Hopefully thats ok

It just happened to me today after going through the car wash. It's understandable since the radiator is totaly exposed to the elements.

I about freaked out when I first saw it happen to mine. It was the morning after a very heavy rain, only noticed it when I was stopped at a light.

Yeah it freaked me out the first couple of times I saw it, steaming like a kettle..but as soon as the moisture burns off its gone.

I would install a fire extinguisher just in case your car is really on fire :rotflmao1:

That or hook up a fire sprinkler system and make sure you advise all passengers of emergancy fire exits before they board your jeep!:rotflmao1:

You didn't see this on older vehicles because the mechanical fan would pull the evaporating moisture into the engine bay, electric fans that don't always run, allow you to see the steam. Our WJ has been doing it since 02
