But that other thread (which I started) is supposed to be for camping with the JK (what, if we weren't worried about kittens, we'd call "car camping"). This thread is all camping--two of my images required backpacking to the campsites. So I think a separate thread is okay. :)

Here we are at the Outer Banks (OBX) near Cape Hatteras in Frisco, NC on Hatteras Island and then on the beach at Ocracoke Island. This was in April 2008.

Here we are on Badin Lake at the Uwharrie (URE) National Forest. We were there for a week, so we got to do some trails also (mild ones). This was in May 2008 (about 3 weeks ago).

Great pics guys!! one question for the "tall trees" pics in Cali,, Where did you find a tent and packs so tiny for that picture?? makes the tree look really big..

I love fort desoto. How many racoons did you count trying to steal your shit?

I camped there on New Years Eve once (yeah we camp int he dead of "winter" here in florida) and had my old 1971 Kent Cortez RV. Was getting ready to head out to a concert and had the back door open and some Racoon was COMING in the RV looking for a handout.

That park is littered w/ them. Ranger told me he saw a bull shark eat one as it was swimming from one island to the next.


There were sooo many racoons! My wife was freaking out, lol. We had the string of x-mas lights out over night, so when the racoons passed, you could see the shadow of them walking by the tent! And all night you could hear them scratching the coolers trying to get in. But they didn't.

My wife, the 1yr old and the dog bailed out after the first night due to the 90+ temps but me and Patrick had a fun time the rest of the weekend even though it was a little warm.

Yeah it does, doesn't it? LOL. But, that isn't the Tall Trees Grove (which is in Redwoods National
Park). Rather, it's in Redwood Canyon in Kings Canyon National Park--making that a Giant Sequoia.

We dont really see trees that big on this side of the country,, they were all cut down back in the early 1900's,, before people thought of saving that kind of stuff..
