Default Alternator whine on CB

Ok I've tuned my CB perfectly. It runs great as long as the jeep is not running. I turn it on and bam I get white noise.

Readings are as followed.

Channel 1 = 1.6
Channel 40 =1.6
Channel 20 = 1.0

I have now three grounds all working great. I've done the run directly to the battery etc... I have a high end cable from a truck stop that made a huge difference but when I turn on the vehicle my CB get's white noise. I assume it's alternator whine and I'm picking it up when I start the jeep.

I have two ferrits on the power in line and I'm not sure how to remove the alternator noise which I assume is my issue.

I'm not a CB expert by any means, but in car audio, if you have alternator whine, you can usually make it go away by moving your ground points around.

So, what you would do is move it further away from other electrical sources (If you grounded near a brake light, you'd move away from it, ETC).

Maybe this applies to CB's as well

Poor ground from the battery to the frame, or from the engine to the frame. Another ground strap on the engine block can't hurt, don't know if you tried this.

hmm, I haven't tried adding a ground for the engine. I need to figure out where to buy a good grounding strap now. Can I get one of these at an autoparts store?

Do you have any 4 gauge car stereo wire. Find out were the ground strap is on the engine and clean it up. The salt they put on the roads up there could have corroded it.

Battery cable I believe is 4 gauge. I have one if that is the right gauge. I'll check around for the engine ground. It was supposedly an issue when I had 1011 miles on the jeep and they said they had to replace. I should check that one out along with any other I can find. Your right on the money with the salt around here.

Default CB issues...

OK, well Ive eliminated all issues, and hit a dead end. Ive tried inline filters, ensured the antena was grounded, ect ect. the noise interference is comming from the antenna only when the engine is running. when i take it off the noise goes away... Anyone have ideas??? someone suggested grounding the tailpipe to the chassis, but dont think that would help... 4 weeks, and im at a total loss... Basicly to eliminate the noise the scuelch has to be turned all the way up to 3/4's way around

Got a Cobra 29wxst, with cooltech mount.

The antenna needs a good ground, put a strap on the bracket to your frame. Make sure the stud that the antenna mounts into has a nylon washer under it, do not put a ground wire between the antenna and this stud.

With your engine running un-hook your coax from the radio....If you whine goes away your antenna is more than likely picking up the noise not your radio.....
