FYI - Posts In the Anything & Everything Forum

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know that we did some maintenance last night and one of the changes that was made is that posts made here in the Anything & Everything forum will no longer be added to your overall post count. Needless to say, if you've noticed your post count to be lower today, that would be the reason why.

Could've sworn I had like 1800-plus posts, but I just noticed after one of my replies and it said like 1600-something. Is the board acting up or what?

Nobody (with a life) really cares about post counts, but I just don't want any of my enlightening information and profound quotes lost in cyberspace :rotflmao2:

Or am I mistaken on this? I've been wrong before, I think.

I know you said it was maintence but how is that?I think it was fairly simple, actually... the decision was made that Anything & Everything posts no longer count towards post counts (which makes total sense, if you think about it) and, therefore, the system was told not to count them. So, there ya go!

If it makes you feel any better, I lost about 200 posts, too... ;)

Post counts ultimately lead to the change in your JK status i.e. 'JK Enthusiast' or 'JK Freek' etc. Likewise, posts made in here have nothing to do with your passion for the JK or the lifestyle surrounding it and so we felt that they simply should not be added to your total count - that's all. :)

I agree with the changes and additions to the forums that now anything and everything is going to be a catchall for stuff that has "nothing" to do with jeeping (don't understand how because it is the jeeps that bring us here as a group). I do know that before the outdoor sections were added that there were several posts by those of us who use the JK to hunt and fish as well as take our guns out that should count (not to mention other threads as well that A and E was the best/only choice for them) . Not that post count really matters (especially those in word association and such) but to discount everything before the changes were made is a bit wrong because of the new sections have topics that have been discussed in the anything and everything thread.

From how far back? I know I started a fishing thread with a poll a while back. I also know there is several threads that people felt did not quite belong in JK talk that are still talking jeeps. Not knocking you guys but if you are going to credit post that are jeep, jeeping, and jeep lifestyle related you need to double check the ones in A and E because there are a lot here (even quite a few ones I did not participate in) that qualify

Just curious... I had been keeping an eye on my post count waiting for the day I lose my "newbie" status, and it appears that I lost somewhere between 20 and 30 posts in the past couple of days... Is this a side-effect of some of the reorganization of posts with the new categories added in the past couple of days?

Oh you are a real commodeian you are (intentional misspelling). :bleh: Since it has been a while (last year sometime) I am going to repost it and see what the results are and get folks talking fishing. :ya: :clap: :yup:

I am not that worried about it I was one of those lobbying for the post count to just be "real" posts and not the ones here than are just to run post count up. I also was hoping someone would open some areas for stuff like guns and fishing just like what happened. Sure this area is fun and all but someone with 2000 posts in word association does not impress me. I lost half or more of my count and realy could care less. I just want to make sure if we are moving threads to places where they belong so posts can be counted everyone gets the proper credit.

BTW can we take and remove numbers for the number of posts in some threads for instance that recent debauchery and delving into the more "happy" side of manhood?

I didn't even notice my lost posts until I saw this thread, I like it though, and I also like the new forums, although it will take some getting used to from my normal browsing routine.

[EDIT]- I only hope this change doesn't direct the post-count padders into the actual Jeep/tech forums to get their posts to count.

I know of 3 other jeeps sites off the top of my head that do the same thing.

I really don't think there are many bunched panty's over the change, some surprise, but little real bunching.

Whew! I'm usually on late at night and last night I noticed a few of my posts didn't change the count number. I wondered if I was getting ill or I needed new glasses or something. At least I know the reason why now. Thanks. I think this new post count arrangement is a good idea.
