Any other Jeepers out there prefer wind as their motor?

Altho I never did much sailing, I was broke into it on a 25' Santana on the beautiful waters of Lake Tahoe.
It was so different for me as I was pretty much raised waterskiing on the Lake. I loved how quiet it was, and how much speed you could actually pick up.
Fun Stuff...!!!

That would be a beautiful way to lose your sailing cherry! Beautiful area, and a nice boat too. Most people don't realize just how fast some of the sailboats can go. Some will carry enough speed to waterski behind if you've got the right conditions.

Sailing will always be better than being on a stinkpot. And sailing on a tall ship is one of the best ways to ply the ocean. www.starclippers.com

Getting more and more involved every day. Sailboats are dirt cheap right now if you're looking at buying.

I was raised racing CL-16's with my father. Then he bought a Santana 25'. He and I were the only ones in the family to use it so he sold it and we started racing 19' Lightnings. He broke down and sold it a few years after I was in college and got a CL-14 for times when we could get out. Sadly it is now gone and the boats have been replaced with motorcycles.
I miss it but he and I can go out on the bikes and not sit and fry in the middle of the lake when the wind stops. I don't miss that...

I actually never sailed and I have no excuse not to. Everyone in my family has and my sister sailed in college and won a few trophy's. I live 4 houses down from one of the oldest yatch clubs in america and they race these "special" a-cats( I think thats what they are called) that apparently you can't get anymore. Supposedly the builder was a local shop in Point pleasant which isn't around anymore but i've been told they are known around the world for their speed. All I know is you inherit these boats and most are owned by a few different families at once. They are pretty cool though and I got found a good picture of the race last year. They are all wooden race boats. I wish I knew how to sail.

Those are nice looking boats, you think they have enough crew?
I sail a Prindle 18 Cat and a Dory, also race as crew on Nacra 20's with spinnaker, real fast boats.
Jersey you really should get on one this summer, you'll won't regret it.

thats not the crew.. thats the drunken owners.. haha.. I have to find the video I have.. 2 of them collided right in that spot. That was a costly repair. My neighbor won that regatta last year with his a-cat ... the spy. I'll try to get on them this year.

Had a Catalina 30 footer last year but sold to buy something bigger. Still have not decided on what to buy so without a sail boat and limited to my 16 foot fishing boat for the time being.

www texas200.com did this race in a 16' newport I salvaged from a back yard. 5 days and 200 miles solo with winds over 20mph most days was daring at times. Met some great people and had a wonderful time. Hoping to get a bit bigger boat to take the wife out in some time.
