The wife and I are new to both the Jeep life and the camping life. We are eager to get out and see the world from a Jeep. But we have no idea where in PA that there is good camping and 4x4 trails to go. The place would have to allow dogs too. We have a St. Barnard and he WILL eat our sofa if we leave him home alone. So he's got to go too. I just bought a Jeep Wrangler X 2 months ago and have crossed the 1000 recommened miles for 4 wheeling and am dying to try it out. Please if anyone can help us out there may be a beer in it for you.:eek2::clap::ya::thumbsup::clap::clap::ya:

Head on over to Rausch Creek Offroad Park, you can try your luck at their trail system. When your done, go camping at Pine Grove KOA, it is one of the nicest campgrounds I've been too. They have a pool, arcade, ice cream shop, merry go round, a store and restaurant all on site. They have sites with or without electric, cabins, and pull through sites.

According to google it's 272 mi – about 4 hours 27 mins from Pine Grove to the city in your signature.

Keep checking the East Coast section of the staging area for the next Casparis Run, I think atomicmecha was talking about some time in August, it is near South Connellsville PA. Koosier State park is about 40 min. away and allows dogs.

And it should be quiet,, most campgrounds are down 60% around here due to the fuel prices..
You'll have the whole place to yourselves..

Thanks to all. I will have to check out those sites. For an update... my Barnard ate my couch, loveseat and chair and a half... all on the left side arms... must have a lisp to the left. Again thanks to all.

Hey Gunner,

there's not a lot of places around us that let you wheel, at least legally. Know anyone with a farm? They may let you go out and get a little feel for it, if you ask. BeaveRun does Dirt Days once a month for some wheeling. The next day is August 9th.

As for camping, check out www.breakneckcampground.com or www.bearruncampgound.com Both are in Portersville, Breakneck is primitive, with a few cabins (It's always been quiet and empty when we've been there) and Bear Run has primitive, modern (electric and water), and cabins. They also have pool and playground, plus different themes for weekends.

Check out www.pgh-offroad.com for some other chances to wheel.
Have fun!
