Ok i'm new to owning a 4 wheel drive. Don't throw rocks at me for posting this but does it hurt the Jeep to put it into 4 wheel low at a standstill? Manual says to let it roll at under 3mph then engage 4 lo. So far i've put it into 4 wheel high just to see if it worked on a gravel road last week.
Really don't want to hear the crunching of gears. Thanks!
It's a six speed btw.

no it will not hurt the tcase to switch at a stand still the reasoning behind the low speed shift is to help the gears to mesh better will shifting that all

you really won't hear the gear grind... but there'll be NO doubt that you're in 4 lo

Follow the procedure as stated in the owners manual and you'll have no troubles. I've always done it that way and it is gear grind-free!

If you are not moving, sometimes you cannot get it into 4LO because the gears are just at the wrong place to mesh. If it goes in when parked, fine. But sometimes you will need a little movement to get it to engage. Although the Rubi's rock trac t-case seems more forgiving than my other Jeeps were.

Yah it is kind of amazing how forgiving the NV241OR really is. Sitting still of moving up to 5 mph it goes in and out pretty easily.

I used to have a GMC that would only shift into 4LO when crawling, not still, but haven't tried it in my JK. I always crawl a bit going into the LO.
