Why a dolly and not 4 down? Did you already have the dolly? Nice rig and setup. Enjoy the trip.

Hummm If that is a stock 4wdr rubi, you'll have to drop a drive shaft

I was going to comment on this also. Page 359 of my owner's manual (2009 JK Unlimited X) says "CAUTION! Front or rear wheel lifts should not be used. Internal damage to the transmission or transfer case will occur if a front or rear wheel lift is used when recreational towing."

Hopefully everything goes well, it would suck to damage the drivetrain.

What is that dolly rated for? I tried to move my Jeep awhile back behind a 5ton truck and I couldn't find a dolly/trailer rated for the weight of the 4door Rubi.

Nice toys!

Besides, once you get to your location you have to find a place to put the dolly. I have pulled my 07 Rubicon Unlimited behind my motorhome 4 down for over 5500 miles so far. Before that I pulled my '90 YJ 4 down.

After reading the post regarding the warning not to pull a JK on a dolly, we pulled the Honda this time . Not sure how lifting the front two tires 4-5 inches will damage the running gear ...... maybe someone smarter than me can explain it to me.

This dolly is a Kar Kaddy SS folding car dolly by Demco Mfg. I forget the exact rating but I believe it was about 4000 lbs. The nice thing about this dolly is it virtually folds in half when you get where you are going (or store in my garage). It is also low enough to push most of it under the rear of the motor home when you get to where you are going. But we have found the concern of the "not having a place to put it" unfounded. Most of the places we have been (not all) when you tell them your rig is 38' they put you in a pretty big parking area and the dolly storage has not been an issue. This last week I didn't even disconnect or fold it, but then where we were you could have put three motor homes our size (end to end) on out camping spot.

If anybody is going to Myrtle Beach and they are tired of the cramped spots on the beach, look at Willow Tree RV Resort. Beach is about 9 miles away, but the campground could not be nicer. All paved, concrete patios, really big spots, lots of privacy, nice pool and nice people.

Owners Manual

RECREATIONAL TOWING (BEHIND MOTORHOME, ETC.)
CAUTION!
Front or rear wheel lifts should not be used. Internal
damage to the transmission or transfer case will occur
if a front or rear wheel lift is used when recreational
towing.

This is a guess on my part, Lubrication of the T-case when only one driveshaft is turning.

After years of being refused camp sites with a 35' Airstream ( because of length ) we step down to a smaller MH, and not once have we been refused. NF, State and county camp sites have a limit of 24 to 28 Ft.

I used the roadmaster tracker tow bar, and the adapter for the mopar winch bumper, also the brake buddy system worked very well with this setup.

Hmm ..... I thought there was some kind of front locking hub that was locked/unlocked when put in 4WD, so the front drive shaft did not turn all the time. Maybe I'm mistaken and have it confused with my old GMC PU.

We have not stayed in any state parks that had issues (but only one so far this year, Asseteague, near Ocean City MD), but then we research pretty well and make reservations before we go. We have stayed mostly in RV type parks that cater to bigger rigs. I guess if we were to try to stay at the smaller state parks we might run into problems. We prefer the larger parks as they have the activities (pools) for the kids, that the state parks don't seem to offer. Since we are on the East Coast pools are mandatory for camping!

I have an AEV front bumper and have not found a suitable (stock) bracket to go to a "Roadmaster or Blue Ox" tow bar. Both Roadmaster and AEV are useless when you call them. Seems I will have to find a bracket close and fab it to work.

I have heard good things about the brake buddy from a couple of people now and may consider it.

I hope you get a chance to experience the wildlife at the National forest and state camp sites, that the RV type parks can't offer, I have seen, and been guilty of setting out food for the wildlife ( sliced apple, carrots and so forth) and when I say wildlife, that means from deer to coyotes to bears, bears being the scariest, I watch one bear push a 20 yard dumpster around that had no wheels, like it was a toy, lesson learned ( don't feed the animals) it's true these camp site have more insects, down in texas I parked on a fire ant hill, and didn't notice.
the next morning the RV was full of ants, that was work to get rid of them ( another lesson learned )

Be safe RV'ing
The best to you and your's
