I thought i wanted a new bike. i was convinced that i wanted a full suspension bike. I demoed a HiFi 29er and a trek fuel... i'm not completely sold. I honestly didn't think it was worth investing another 3,000 in another bike when i already like my bike.

anyway, my crank had play in it so i swung by dirty harrys. turns out they're going to warrenty my crank. A new one should be in within a week.
so i made it better.

mod list now:
Ritchey stem
Carbon bars
Carbon post
Specialized seat with love channel
Chris king headset
reba extended to 100mm.
American classic 29 Disc wheelset
Avid mud scraper rotors (something like that)
XTR cassette
new chain
1x9 conversion (small ring will be removed when new crank goes on)
new bar wrap grips
Maxxis ignitors front and rear.
set up tubeless with stans rim strips.

it's coming along pretty decent. getting lighter for sure. Going to put my first ride on the lighter rims tomorrow. i was torn between the mavics or the american classics. In the end the lighter wheel won out because if i do ding up the rim i'll just put a stans wheel on and relace it. the mavic takes a specific rim, even though it's a little stronger.

anyway, here's the pic (excuse the dog toys and ugly ass tile that's going to be ripped up).

That's a nice bike  I have a full suspension right now and I can't wait to get rid of it! I've been thinking about building myself a new hardtail bike but I've been out of that scene for about 5 five years now and I'm not sure if I'd really get back into it. I might just fix a few things on my current bike and see if I still enjoy riding. - KY

thats nice. i've been riding a Gary Fisher Cake for a couple of years now. the full-suspension is nice on the technical trails. easy single track and on the road are a beating though. you lose so much energy with the back suspension and extra weight.

i was commuting with my FS for about 2 weeks before i had enough. all that travel in the suspension is worthless on the road. so i got a Kona Smoke 2-9. pretty sure it's cheapest 29iner you can buy at $350. but it doesn't have anything close to the components of yours.

Thats nice bike ! and it look light. Next bike will be 29er, they're perfect for technical trails but what about on ascents and acceleration? I run 26" with a 11-32 cassette, on 29er I must go to 11-34?

thanks for all the compliments guys. like anything else in life once you get hooked on it, $ just flys out the door lol.

I run an 11-34 on the 29r so that i have a little extra in granny for the bigger tires. now that it's a 1x9 nine i'm glad i do. If you leave your front deraileur you could get away with an 11-32.

headed to the bike shop today to go pick up my XTR crankset :)
