I go by this when doing n e thing off road and thing they are good rules for any one to fallow especially some one new to off road scene

1 . If some one says floor it , think first it's not his jeep

2. No when to call "no glory" and winch yourself no point in breaking something and ruining the rest of the day trail for you and every one else who now have to help you limp out

3. Pride, hey there is no pride on the trail if you feel uncomfortable doing something then don't

4. Know your jeeps limits and respect them

i'll be the first to admit this; on the trail i do drive like an old lady

and that is why on a lvl 4-5 trail i make it out like the others but at the end of the day all i need is to air up my tires and head home

just my tw0 cents

If the mud or water hole has moss on it do not attempt to cross, (no one has been through there in a long time)

along those same lines- try to determine the depth of the mud hole before you attempt going thru it

This didn't look too bad

See his rule #1 - you weren't driving *his* jeep! :rotflmao2:

Seeing that mud hole reminded me of a story about a local guy around here with 44s or something huge on his truck. He would go in the middle of mud hole and put it in 2WD and just spin the rear tires to create two huge ruts. He'd then just put it back in 4WD and drive out. Anybody who tried with less than 44s (or whatever they were) would bottom out.

1) Leave the trail cleaner than how you found it.

2) If you see someone throwing garbage out on the trail, Call 911 or get help right away on CB channel 9... then approach and smack the offender in the head with a Hi-Lift. Don't worry, help is on the way.

I think it was Charlie Brown in the "Peanuts" comic strip who very famously told the gang "You can't tell how deep a mud puddle is by just looking at it".

Check out the latest issue of JP magazine,, it shows the mud hole at Mount Morris Michigan eating Jeeps.. I use to live in Michigan and am familiar with that hole.. It looks very safe, usually not even any water on top of the mud.. But I've seen many Jeeps and trucks stuck up to their windows there.:yup:

I think calling the authorities is a bit overkill. They have much better things to do and would consider it a nuisance call.
I agree with the Hi-Lift smack, however.
The citizens need to start standing up and using overt "peer pressure."

My favorite is to see an eco-weenie toss trash or a cigarette butt out the window. :naw:
I've come to expect such behavior from people that just don't give a d@mn, but these are the Algore hypocrites and their ilk.

Mud holes are like the rule about collecting firewood, plan for a depth, find out the job is twice what you planned.

If you want to see God laugh, tell him your plan
