OK so I am considerin buying an older Bantam trail lite ( 1998) hybrid camper for winter camping. I found one that seems great-- but.... we found some corrosion on the aluminum skin on the bottom...dosen't seem to be anything major...like from a rock hit then our MI winters with the rock salt helped the corrosion....sooooo anyone know if this is a really bad sign?? or is it a kind of normal wear and tear thing for a 10 year old camper - Is it fixable? so I can prevent any further damage? help!!

You did not say how much you were fixin to pay for this camper. Aluminum corrosion is no a big deal. Usually its only around places where there are two different types of metal. Scotch brite pads usually will get that corrosion off the metal, add a little alodine and paint. If the corrosion is bad just cut the place out and rivet on a patch. I got some buddies that are aircraft sheet metal guys and they do these blind patches. You rivet a larger plate onto a patch the size of the hole you want to patch. You rivet the plate to the inside of the hole with the patch facing the outside. Counter sink the rivets and it's invisable once you apply a little sealant to the crack and paint it. Alodine all the parts cuz without that your paint won't hold up and you'll be grinding corrosion again soon.
