I have the Garmin etrex Legend and every time I turn it on it says searching for satellites but never finds any after 10-15 minutes of being on.
Apparently the last date this thing worked was Sept of 06. I must get pissed and leave it at home.
I would like to go geocaching today and it would be nice to have my GPS

I use a Legend too. Are you outside when you try to get it running? They don't usually work inside a building or just a tree canopy can make it lose it's signal. If you are out in the open it should find three or more satellites in the ten to fifteen minutes you are giving it. If you are located somewhere other than the location the GPSr was when it was shut down, it will take longer for it to find where it is. The GPSr will first assume it is still in the same place it was when shut down so if it has moved it takes it longer to figure this out. Hope this helps. Good luck, I've had excellent service from my Legend, the only regret I have is not going with the color screen version. We geocache fairly regularly.

Thanks for the info. It is working now. It must have thought it was still in the Grand Tetons.
Geocaching was fun today, we didn't find the cache, but the adventure is in the journey I suppose.
My GPS was a gift, I wish it was color too.
