View Full Version : Where to mount the hand held mount?

I have a Garmin 76csx.

In my Cherokee its no problem with the hand held. I use a bean bag mount that sits nicely on the dash in a depression that is there. I like this because I can remove the bean bag mount when not using the GPS so thieves are not tempted to break in.

On my JK I am struggling with where or what to do with a mount.

The two options I have considered are to do a permanent mount on the Daystar after market dash piece that I have, or do a permanent mount on the flat area next to the Automatic transmission shift lever between the seats.

Any suggestions? Pictures? Any working temporary/removable mounts out there?

Thanks,
Lakebum

This:

Though the 60CSx bounces when driving, it's fine at slow speeds and stopped.

Of course, I've been known to lay it on a crumpled towel on the center console too.

I've used the Bracketron mount with a suction cup for a Garmin E-trex handheld GPS when I had my boat. It held great and I'm sure would do fine in a Jeep.

These are available from Daystar on Ebay. No unsightly brackets hanging about.

LakebumThere is a place for the bean bag on the left side of the dash. There are no defroster vents over there. That's where I use my Nuvi.

I originally joined this group because of a post for the mount for 75WXST on a JK.

I have a TJ (yea... came in sneeky like, crawling in over a rock :) )and there were no clean solutions to the mount that I could find.
First I made up a suction cup setup that was pretty much ok, but not at all what I really wanted.

I found a bracket for my TJ - some of you may have one , at Quadratec that mounts seamlessly into my interior.
