I know there has been speculation about this for quite some time now and that it really isn't a surprise that Mopar is going to be releasing an aftermarket Dana 60 Rear Axle but from what my sources say, this axle should be available very soon, with 4.10 gears, equipped with a locker and all for under $3,000!!! :eek2:

sorry, i just clarified my first post to indicate that it's only a rear dana 60. but, for a retail price expected to be about $2,900, it really is a steal :yup:

lol serious question though

atleast 42's. I dont know for sure. But my friend runs 42's and beats the hell out of it. No problems.

Your going to be restricted by your front axle really.

Oh man.

Hmm, Rubi D44's front and rear or now a Rubi D44 front and a D60 rear?

I do like overkill :D

It would be a whole lot sweeter if they offered optional gearing....some of us would like the 5.13 already in there.

That would only makes sense anyway if you're going to put a D60 in it. That little 3.8 in the JK ain't gonna turn any tire worth having a D60 on w/o lower gears in it...

PONCH

It would be sweet if they had a package deal, Mopar 44 front and 60 rear, lockers, 5.13 gears and all the accessories.

Ahhhh that's why they call it dreaming!

anyone heard if they are going to do a high-pinion 60 for the front?

Piginajeep
09-05-2008, 09:59 AM
It is 5x5.5 on the Sarge concept and it uses the Dana 60's so I would say it would be a good bet it will be the same!

it has to be 5x5.5.

you can always swap the front to a spyntec kit for 5x5.5.

or just use wheel adapters

I'm told that a larger front brake upgrade will also be available to complement the larger rear brakes. The front brake kit will include a new hub and bearing assembly in the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.

how much more do you think?

pearl-drum-man
09-06-2008, 05:22 AM
Yeah, I also wonder if it's basically the same axle that is on the Sarge, with brackets for coils though.

My little Jeep for top off driving has turned into an obsession with how many ways can I mod this thing. My wife has been very good with my wish list. I will just have to settle for a locker in the front. (Aussie-JK version out soon!) Gear change, new cm axles... I can't stop.

My name is Ed and I'm a mod-a-holic. :dontknow2:

i'm sure you can sell them easily. I sold my set of 5x5 with not much issue, when I switched to 5x5.5

It's the same width as the current 44. It will have 4.10 gears, disc to disc complete, 5x5 bolt pattern. Talking with a vendor who has them in stock, it's around 2365 + $250 to ship for the setup.

He was going to break one of the crates apart and check out the internals to verify gears, what locker (elocker or limited slip) and spline count.

I'm waiting to hear back from him right now on if he's done that

Mopar part: #p5155083
dana 60 LP
From what I hear its NOT an e-locked axle and is set up for leaf springs.

I have been waiting for this to come out for some time. I was hoping it would be a cheaper price point.

now my 60 rear end options are:

Mopar LP dana 60: $2425
JK bracket kit: $400
Dana 60 LP gears + install: $400
total: $3225 not assembled

OR

Rock Jock HP 60: $1900
ARB + gears and install: $1600
total: $3500 assembled

This is comparing a LP to a HP and mystery locker to an ARB. We also don't know the housing tube size of the Mopar part or the thickness. Rock Jock has 3" tubes with 1/4" thickness. Rock Jock has a skid with 5/16th diff cover. Mopar has no skid with ??? thick diff cover.

EDIT: Ohh I forgot to mention that Rock Jock uses your factory brake bracket calipers and rotors but is drilled for 5on5 or 5on5&1/2 Mopar is just 5on5&1/2 but come with brakes that will accept factory calipers.

MY choices are starting to become clear!

Ahhh thats what they make torches and welding machines for:D mod it

Are you saying that with a Dana 60 having more drivetrain power loss your Miles per gallon will decrease or do you mean you will have less money for gas if you purchased a Dana 60?

PONCH

From what I got from my dealership, it is a direct replacement to the D44 in the rear of the JK.. You could cut off the mounts for the coil springs and weld on some leaf spring pads and do a rear leaf spring conversion..

That sounds good, I didn't want leafs in the rear. Rumor had it, it was made for leaf springs. Good find!

Can anyone confirm the bolt pattern on this? I would assume they ended up going 5x5 since it is advertised as a plug and play swap, but just wanted to make sure.

I'm hoping for 5x5 as well, I'd definitely go this route if it is. If its not I'm back up in the air on converting to currie or dynatrac solutions.

Missing Des Moines right now littlejon! Was home on leave for such a short time didn't get to play with the Jeep very much!

Solid axles JK 60's are around $3400 (if i remember correctly on the price). and will use factory brakes, its plug and play. choice of lockers and gears.

5x5.5

You have to wonder how heavy duty these are. If they are thin wall tubed, and have thin housings like the 44.

Your money would be better spent at Currie or Solid.
