I always use a little elbow grease and a fingernail. A little heat doesn't hurt..a lot of people will warm them up a smidge with a hair dryer...goo gone also is popular. They aren't stuck with NASA adhesive, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Just peel them off. If it is cold warm them with a hairdryer first. If there is any residue left use some Goof off or WD-40 to clean it up. Please don't use sand paper.

X2 and also dont use a heat gun (They just get too hot) but a hair dryer works. First just start at one corner and start peeling if its not coming off that well, hit it with the hair dryer while pulling.

The trail rated and Jeep logos need a electrical tape wrapped screwdriver. My trail rated badge felt like it was welded to the panel.

1) Drink Milk
2) Grow Fingernails
3) Sit Jeep in Sun
4) Pick Edge of Decal with newly grown Nail(s)
5) Peel away at sharp angle
6) Throw mangled decal in refuse container

it was like 65-70F when i took delivery. i peeled off my "X" stickers with just a fingernail before i even left the lot. in other words, just peel them off, it ain't hard.

I peeled all the the stickers off my Rubi with my fingernails on a warm day and I used fishing line to remove the pasti-chrome Jeep from the grill. All came off with the glue so I didn't need to do anything after removal except wax the areas. In the past when I've removed stickers from other vehicles I've found that a little heat goes a long way and WD 40 works wonders on most glues.

I peeled these visor stickers off with just my fingernail. I had just driven home from work with the windshield blower on for most of the drive, so the visors were warm already. Here's my technique: Start at one corner, and peel back the sticker... pull it taut (to maintain tension throughout) as you continue to peel it away from the visor. Voila - you're done (and again, if you have residue, use some Goo Gone or WD40 to get rid of the leftover adhesive crap).

I was able to get both off without any ripping, etc., and I should mention that my "fingernails" are regularly bitten down to nothingness, so those of you with REAL fingernails should have no problem.:D

i used a very secretive and unknown technique...

I was waiting for a daughter to get out of school over the winter. Cold as a witche... very cold winter day. had the heat on high and the visors downish 'cuz it was really sunny out.

i was sitting there looking at them, saw a little edge that was lifted...

so like a scab i just HAD to pick at it.

:eek!: it loosened up (warmed from the heat being on defrost)

i panicked and looked around to see if anyone saw me do it. (I was scared. I hid in the basement for 3 weeks after taking the tags off my couch pillows)

curiosity overtook my self preservation and over-road my manly embarrassment gene... i pulled a little more... a little more came off! i gave up and went for broke! in less than a minute they where gone. No residue, no outlines, no rewaxing? just a nice clean no-sticker aerodynamic & nearly completely uselss sunvisor.

Seriously though. some day when it is warm just peel the silly things off. I had no leftover glue and noone will ever no they are gone. except the 40 odd thousand people who will eventually read this. ok... 5, but work with me here.

Edit: ok, so MJS knew it.

Agreed - I think that those "X" stickers are like some sort of Jeepy "Scarlet Letter," announcing to the world that you didn't want or weren't able to buy all the features, etc., of the other models... and they're UGLY.

I made sure to stipulate at the time I signed the contract that the dealer not put their sticker(s) anywhere on my Jeep... if they wanted me to advertise for them, they were going to have to give me $500 more off my purchase price (and then I'd still have ripped 'em right off!). I like my Sahara stickers, and they look really nice against the Jeep Green, but I'm wondering if I should remove those, for the nice "clean" look. If I do, I think I'll buy some plastichrome Jeep emblems and stick 'em on the sides, down low...

Just to let everyone know, I took the plunge and went with the "Drink milk, grow fingernails..." method. Worked like a champ. Had a bottle of Bug Off (that stuff that gets the bugs off your grill) and that took the residue right off. Much happier without the "Scarlett Letter". :D

I agree 100%,...people don't realize that when you get all the upgraded Packages on an "X" then your right up there with the rest(ok close):D In my case I had to take the "X" off, I'm going to wear a custom Decal right where the "X"'S were and also Hood Decal's.(Can't put a name on the Decal, Sorry, but I have to respect the Sponsors on here). Speaking only for myself, I don't agree. I didn't buy the Sahara because, to me, it screamed street ride. Power door locks? Power windows? And it plain old doesn't look as cool (IMHO) with the painted fenders.

As for the Rubicon: Too much of a good thing. I need my JK to get me to the trailhead--whether it's 50 miles, or 1500 miles--from there I'll hike to my ultimate destination.

As for ability to afford: That wasn't an issue for me. But, the money I saved by buying the X permitted me to buy a new camera, a new Aeron chair, new furniture for my home office, and I'm still trying to decide on what 42" plasma TV I want.

As for what everyone else likes: We each have our own opinion and I respect that. Except for those visor stickers. If anyone likes them, keep it to yourself, please!

Edit: Modified last two para's.

LOL, the scarlet letter, that is perfect as my X is Flame Red. Since I basically have a Sahara without the painted fenders, I really think the X sticker is wrong in any event. I am planning to get a Hummer Recovery Vehicle sticker to replace the X! ;)

Well, sort of, but not exactly either. I did want the Rubicon--sort of--that's why I built several on the Jeep website and even discussed pricing at the dealership. But, after looking it all over again, I decided that the best fit for me, the one that best met my individual needs and preferences, was the X.

I don't think of the Rubicon as being the "best" of the three, and the Sahara as number two. I think of the Rubicon as being the best for someone who spends significant time crawling rocks, the Sahara as best for someone who prefers a little "cushiness" in their everyday ride, and the X as being the best for rest of us. I don't feel like I bought the "low-grade" model, I bought the right model for me. I'm not in the least bit embarrassed by that decision, and having the X on the vehicle matters not a bit to me.

In the end, I hope that everyone who has a new JK is just as happy as I am, no matter which model they bought, and no matter whether they remove any decals or not. :-)

i agree, from what i read the Rubicon was geared more towards rocks and steep trails and crawling. I live in FL and we have no rocks, and no steep grades really. we have lots of sand, mud, and trails. i think the X is the best fit for me.

I haven't seen the need to remove any body stickers yet, but by golly, I went ahead and took off ONE of the dealer stickers they put on the back of my keys. Yes, they put stickers on the back of my keys...I will get enough courage one of these days to go ahead and peel off the other sticker, once I can memorize where I bought my JK...

Why is it when you pull out the key from your pocket, the side with the buttons is ALWAYS facing the wrong way...?

The X-model is the best platform from which to build the Jeep YOU want, with the suspension and body mods YOU want, all in order to ultimately make that Jeep an extension of YOUR own personality.

I purchased the Sahara . . . but given the chance to do it over, I'd have opted for the less-expensive X-model, taken it home, put it in the garage, remove the stickers and then just stare at it . . . . as the plan begins to form . . . .

Rubicons are great for anyone wanting the best in trail capability that the factory can offer. But I've seen X-models equipped with carefully-chosen modifications out-perform a stock Rubicon in every way . . . and for a lot less money than the Rubicon owner paid. :yup:

ah man... I took mine off months ago and it was a horror story

To begin with- they had been on for 4 months. Don't know if that had anything to do with the problems or not. Its a hot day (85f-90f outside), so I see no need to heat them. Using my fingernail I start to peal it off. Starting it was easy. But it left behind ALL the glue  Well... First lets try some WD-40 on the glue. WRONG! That just turned the glue into a giant sticky mess  So now I'm staring at this gooey sticky mess stuck where the X used to be. OK, I have some Goof Off, that should work. NOPE! Apparently the Goof Off doesn't like WD-40 mixed with glue because it did nothing at all  My last ditch- rubbing alcohol. Ah yes, finally something less than resorting to acetone :eek2: But the rubbing alcohol was slow going- apply a little to a rag, a lot of elbow grease to a small portion until it was gone. Find a clean portion of the rag and repeat. Took forever.

Then to be safe I hit the area with some car wax. Smart huh? Wrong!- I was putting my TX 4WD Org club sticker on in the same spot. And quickly discovered that new stickers don't stick to freshly waxed paint very well :naw:

So... Couple hours in TX heat sweating my ass off. It took less time to install the Shrockworks bumper

The only sticker I like is on the soft top. On the front support of the soft top (when top is on) it reads "door and roof are for protection from the elements only and not in the event of an accident". I point that out to the friendly St trooper when he was telling me my doors were for my protection in a crash and I needed to put them back on.. He changed his mind after reading that sticker.. I'm getting an extra one of those to put on the window frame for when I have the softtop completely off(which is most of the summer).

I'm getting an extra one of those to put on the window frame for when I have the softtop completely off(which is most of the summer).
Steve

Just peel the sticker off of the soft top and stick it to the windshield header!:yup:

I used a hair dryer just to warm up the decal and very easily peeled it off. Careful not to overheat the decal because it makes it prone to slicing.

It is easier to remove a relative new decal than an older in terms of glue residue it leaves behind.

acetone, light sulfuric acid, steel wool, and pressure washer

i want a picture after the sticker is gone

:rotflmao2::rotflmao2::rotflmao2:

or better yet, use some dot 3 brake fluid and rub it all over the area you want the stickers removed from, wait a couple hours then go out and just wipe them off......... that easy, no hair dryers, finger nails, tweezers, belt sanders etc..

but just send us pics when its completed like it says above and do a complete write up. thanks and have a great day.

I always thought brake fluid ate your paint off, that's why it says not to get it on any painted surfaces, and if you do to wipe and clean it up asap?:dontknow2:

A good pressure washer will do the trick. I do it every time I get a new vehicle to remove the dealer decal. No free advertising!!:synister:

Yes, a little sun and a fingernail goes a long way. WD40 to cleanup any leftover gunk.

I used my wife's hairdryer and finished up with a bit of GooGone. Had both "X"s off in less than a half hour.

zippo fluid is good for residue...all of my decals, including the visors peeled right off. Just leave the jeep in the sun for a while first.

Metal emblems such as Trail Rated and JEEP can be removed by sawing through the sticky tape on the back with fishing line.

Heat em up. Peel them off. Get some wd40 or goo gone to get rid of the residual sticky stuff left behind. Also going to need a bit of elbow grease.

I use soapy water a plastic sqeegee and a regular hair dryer. Not as hot as a heat gun no paint burn

1) Hair dryer,
2) patience, and
3)GooGone.

Heat it up a bit at a time, peel with your fingernail and refer to step #2.
