My wife and I enjoy camping on a regular basis and I'm interested what everyone fits in their jeeps when camping?
I usually take along a 12x16 tent, small colemen generator fishing gear, and some other miscellaneous stuff. It all fits nicely in the jeep. I took the rear seat out to fit all that.

Not sure if it counts as gear but I love the mountain pie maker! You know the sandwich making thing for the fire.

That looks like a good start. Just came back from camping/fishing and I had my jeep loaded to the top including a dog kennel. I am trying to put together a "must have" list of items to take with when camping that is lightweight and easy to pack...

They're listed at about $9K right now but Dean has been discounting them out the door. He asked me, as a gentleman, not to disclose my discount...
If you're familiar with this type of equipment then you know it's a very decent deal.

Thanks!
Ya, the kettle was one of my most recent purchases, I got tired of eating my oatmeal out of the jetboil cup (the black part on the bottom it doubles as a cup, to small for my liking).
The jetboil has to be one of the best purchases I have made! It is as good as everybody claims if not better, I highly recommend it!! The one I have has the french press with it (I have to have my coffee in the morning). Everything with it is self contained and fairly light weight. If you are considering buying one I would also recommend the MSR Reactor (it came out after I bought the jetboil), according to the reviews it is alittle more efficient in higher altitudes, but I think it is alittle bigger in size and a little heavier.

I have never used one, but allot of the guys I hike with love them. They are a little more extreme as far as the ultra lite scene is concerned. I still have my creature comforts when I go out, they give me hell when I show up with 25 lb.s of total weight when we go out, but I just respond by telling them to get some legs under them and they won't have to be so concerned about how much they are carrying. :rotflmao2::rotflmao2:

Not much.
Lantern, coleman stove, tent, sleeping bags, food and a hatchet.
We actually cooked in the back of the Jeep with the Coleman stove one trip as it was raining cats and dogs. I've got a pic of it somewhere I'll see if I can find. :rotflmao2:

Guess I have things a little backwards. ;)
I have a MH that tows the Jeep. That way I also carry all the gear I need that is apropo for the mood of the moment. I do carry a tent if necessary.

Depends upon what you're doing/how long you're staying...
I've got 2 setups - light and comfort.
Last summer I took 3 friends camping - who had NO gear (I provided everything...). It was a 5 hr drive into the northern interior of Algonquin (no Hwy 60 wussy-camping for me). But in the Unlimited I was able to get 4 camp chairs, 2 coolers, 2 tents, 4 sleeping bags, 2 camp cots, air mattress, mini BBQ, Coleman stove, and 4 bags for clothing - ALL BEHIND THE BACK SEATS!!!
Sure beats the old TJ where 2 of us and gear was a full load...
For the camp chairs - if you have the hard-top on, they will slide along the outside lip just behind the rear passenger's shoulder - between the top and the roll-bars - where you can get 2-3 in on each side.
Remember: if you're going to be in the wild - swith to the hard-top. Keep the animals out of the food!!!
And have fun!

GOOD SUGGESTION! Was camping two summers ago. Was like 9 months pregnant, my husband was fishing down at the lake, and I was up at the campground, it was like a mile hike that I had to make with my son carrying him .... well the campground ... there was a black bear wandering around the campsite two sites down from us!
They were after food. DIDNT have a jeep then, but makes much sense now!

Yes, I couldn't agree more. That is an awesome suggestion. I live in South Texas, so we don't have many bears; but plenty of raccoons, coyotes and other wild life that will go through anything that smells like food. Currently I keep food items in one of those black footlockers that I bought at walmart and can be locked with a padlock.
