View Full Version : Advice for future plans
If you had a 96 4 door xj already paid for and could mod it on about a 8-10000$ budget, what would you do? What if the overall tire goal was less than or equal to 33x12.5? Nothing extremely exotic is wanted, just a solid trail rig set up more for low country than for rock country. This is my situation. I do not know much about xj's, the hardware they come standard with, (axles, t-case, etc...) mine is an auto with 130,000 miles on it.
also, can anyone steer me toward a good xj forum?

Go with a Claytons long arm kit, 4.5-5" lift, trim it. I would go with a Ford 8.8 rear axle, 4.88's locker or spool. For 33's the D-30 front will be fine just go with 760X axle u-joints, 4.88's and a Aussie locker.
Tera low and Tera 2-low kits in the NP 231 and a Advance Adapters slip yoke eliminator and a couple of Tow Woods shafts.
Detours sliders/stiffeners, A good quality tank skid, good quality front and rear bumpers for recovery.
I could keep going on and on but with that kind of coin I could build one hell of a XJ!

Thank you sir that is enough to get me started thinking in the right direction. And thank you for directing me to the xj forum, lots of good stuff there.
