The Wife and I just bought a great used 10 ft trailer but it doesn't have a heat source. We like to go camping on cold nights and I was wondering if anybody was using something for heat that they'd recommend.

Thanks!

Years ago I went to an RV dealer and bought a used propane RV furnace.
I went that route because it drew outside air, and exhausted outside. It came with all the hardware needed. Made a nice, neat package.

Edit to add:
It was a small furnace from a camper trailer. About a foot square on the end, and about 2 feet long.

Try you local RV dealer for a used furnace, or what a new one would cost, might be worth a try. :yup:

There are plenty of good little portable propane heaters available. Just always make sure you have plenty of ventilation and you'll have no problems. I've used them in tents for years.

I used to have a portable Tent heater from Zodi (http://www.4siteoutdoors.com/zohotvepoteh.html). I don't know if they still make it or not, but it worked great and it was portable. The good thing about it was that it would be outside and I wouldn't have to worry about carbon monoxide...

Zodi is working on a new model.

In the meantime, I got a small propane unit from Home Depot; it's the Mr Heater Buddy but it's branded something else for Home Depot. It was only $75 and it cranks!!! I heated up the tent at bedtime for about 10 minutes to make it snug, and then in the morning to chase away the chill. Temp outside was around 34 but we were totally cozy.

Try Adventure Trailers - adventuretrailers.com/accessories - I think they may have some of the Zodi heaters still available.

DaveI'm pretty sure they're out too; that's what it said on their website last month when I was shopping anyhow...

Drop Martyn an email (martyn@adventuretrailers.com) and see whats up, if they don't have one lurking about then he will know the best place to find one or good substitute.

We just got back from a week long camping trip in our pop up.
I didn't want to use our gas furnace since we had electric hook-up at the camp ground. We went to Wally World and bought a small electric heater.
It worked great!
It was just over $20 bucks. It is the Honeywell Mini Tower (360deg. Surround heater)

It got down into the 40's at night and I had the thermostat around half way up, and it kept it nice and toasty!
Hope this helps!
Happy camping!

There's no "electric hook-ups" where we camp... :bleh:
