Very cool...I was a Conductor on the UP for a few years. Miss running frieght across open country. Great memories. Probably been on some, if not all, of those engines.

You know it's funny you said this. Out here we don't see many CSX engines. So far this year I have seen 2 and both were in the 3rd position running backwards.
We see UP and BNSF and a few Norfolk Southern and of course Amtrack and our local Metrolink.
Whenever someone finds out that a certian loco is coming our way they post it and sure enough it gets chased.

heh... CSX and amtrak is about the only thing seen around here.
a UP around here is just as rare as a Chessie System loco.
seen a number of norfolk and some old con-rails running around.

Your welcome Tomb R.
Gunny you should have some really awesome photos!!!
Atom, I once caught a 4 engine consist on a Union Pacific lines. It had a 2 UP Locos up front, behind it was a Canadian National and then a BNSF. I was in the wrong place to get a good shot. I'll have to resize it before I can post it here.

Awesome....I love train pictures especially some of the classic older ones! Thanks for sharing!
Grew up with a smaller trainset and would spend hours playing and building up my train set....just call me a train GEEK. Living in Revelstoke one of Canadian Pacific Railway's transfer stations I get to see some amazing trains that roll in on the tracks.
The train below is the one that comes into town about 4 or 5 times a year with special passengers and is the train they use as the Christmas Train decorated in Christmas lights!

Finally here is a rare photo op. The UP motor up front is the North Little Rock Centennial being followed by a Rio Grande. Notice the newly painted road numbers.

Thanks for the compliment but I am no way near being a professional. I wouldn't even call myself an ametuer. More of a hobbiest.
I have a Nikon D80 with 2 kit lens'. A 55-200 and a 18-55. However those last 3 photos posted here were taken with an old Sony point and shoot camera.
The shots themselves are not that good but what makes them lookable is they have locos not commonly seen here in So Cal.
Here's a train shot I did that I really like. Only had one shot since it was going by so fast.

That was taken out in the Mojave Preserve, near Spooky Canyon.

Hey, I think I saw that train come through Banff last year around Christmas. I remember cause my camera froze up and I was po'd that I couldn't get a picture. It's awesome all lit-up.
and the Canadian National in the pic below is so dirty compared to the others.
It's probably seen more backcountry trails than the others :rotflmao2:
