I go duck hunting - more of an all around hunter (upland birds, waterfowl, deer). Don't really go by myself as I don't have my own boat/blind/dogs but go with friends that do.
yeah ducman,i go pretty often.
got a black lab and a 12 foot jon boat, lots of dekes.
the majority of my hunting is done at the salton sea area here in cali, although i do go up to the sacremento valley on occassion.

I used to be an avid duck hunter.....pretty much cut my teeth on pheasent, ducks and geese. Unfortunately I haven't been in years. In fact haven't been since the steel shot law came into effect up here over 10 years ago. I didn't think my old Browning would shoot them as I thought I had a full choke. Come to find out I just have a tighter bored modified. So, I've been wanting to go out again soon. I sure miss it. Been training a good yellow lab, and he's ready....!!!
Good Hunting...!!!

yeah careful with that old browning.i shoot my dads auto-5 humpback from the early 70's. i use bismuth non-toxic loads instead of steel in that gun so i don't harm the barrel.

It's nice to hear from fellow hunters. i have a 14 ft boat, a 20 footer, and a well trained lab. I mainly hunt divers on the Niagara river, just waiting for the flights to come down. I have been wasting my days away chaisng the puddlers, but the early season has been pretty slow so far.

Divers...??? How can you eat those things??? I know a lot of guys do so I guess you must have a real good recipe. I used to shoot a few goldeneyes but just couldn't stomach them. In fact, up here in Alaska, believe it or not, I had to stop killin' mallards because they would feed in a little creek that the salmon would spawn in. They were beautiful birds, with all their winter plumage, but as soon as you put them in the oven it would stink up the whole house with dead fish smell. I realize if I skinned them they probably wouldn't be too bad, but I'm from the old school, and have always plucked all my ducks and geese. So I'm sure much of the smell is from the skin. Either way.....couldn't bring myself to kill anymore of them. Maybe skinning them would be the way to go.

Now THAT'S pretty damn cool...!!!! And another great pic of all the huntin' buddies w/ their mallards....!!!
BTW....what area is that? one of the last few hunts in CA. I had before I moved to AK. was at Grey Lodge. And was a member of the Knights Landing hunting club for a season. Got to hunt about 10,000 acres for pheasants in the Knights Landing area for a whopping $50. (goes to show you how long ago that was) Is that club still around? But that area in your pic looks like maybe a little farther north as it looks like it was a little frosty.....no???
Damn.....I'm sure missin it more now...!!!

Northwest New Jersey - surprisingly, dozens of choices for decent waterfowling.

We've all gone to 3.5"guns. A couple 870's and the rest of us have Benelli Super Black Eagle II's. I got a Remington Super-Mag and got tired of it flinging the ejector off the bolt after a few rounds:naw:, so I got the Benelli. That is one awesome shotgun.

Murray, what type of over under is that. I have never seen a camo over-under. I have considering getting mine dipped, is that what you did?

it's a stoeger 12ga. i did the camo myself. basically sanded it, primed it grey, then used various camo colors in layers to create the camo pattern
