View Full Version : Atlas Transfer Case 2 or 4 speed
What options do you go with when ordering Atlas
2 or 4 speed? Gear ratios? what kind of yoke if upgrading to Dana60
also has anyone used their electronic shiffter instead of cable shifter? how does that actually works? any education would be great...

I would go with the 4 speed... I have a stick and the 4 speed would come in handy.

how hard are they to fit?
so when you say four speed it doesn't have 4 Ratios to choose does it?
ive been offered a 2 Speed 3.80:1 Ratio and im considering it.
I have 2.72:1 with the Diesel which is fine 90% of the time.
I think the 4.1:1 Ratio is too high for the Diesel as it doesnt rev as high as the V6 Petrol and developes max torque at 2000rpm, thats half the petrols 4000rpm.
so do they have a Kit or will they bolt right up?
Atlas has a shifter kit for the jk's that bolts right up and doesnt require any cutting to the interior.:yup: From what Ive seen and heard, it looks and works great.

If you have a 2dr, go with the 2 speed. If you have a 4dr, go with the 4sp. The 4dr has the extra wheelbase so your rear drive shaft doesnt end up being 6 inches long.
Shortstuff: I think you mean 4:1 is to 'low' for the diesel. Its a ratio, so the higher the first number is, the lower the ratio is is. Even though it is numerically higher.

If you have a Rubi you can just run the doubler from Atlas and then you would have a 4 speed, and it would probably be a little cheaper.

Yes, the 4 speed comes with a 1:1, 2.7:1, 4.3:1, and a 10:1... I think you can customize it if you want in terms of ratios
