I got myself a Christmas present from the same place, but it was a smaller package! :rotflmao1: And it never made it under the tree.

OK, what ya get?

It is a .308 round so most deer size animals could be hunted. With the 16" barrel I would imagine that with a good round should be accurate to 600+ yards. It will mostly be a paper puncher though.

I think they may be legal in Cali, with a one round magazine configuration. :rotflmao2:

Now I know the 308 is a great round, and it used to be the caliber of choice for a sniper rifle till the 300 mag came out, and I know some guys got REAL good with them during the war, BUT.......with a 16" barrel at 600+ yards...???.........I'm sure it can be done, but I'd sure like to see it done with any consistency. I'm sure on a good day with no wind and sighted in properly it's possible. Then again, I guess you could hit something way out there with a 22 if it's sighted in properly.....right?:dontknow2:
I sure hope you have fun trying tho......you lucky dog!!!

600+ yards may be a stretch, but I'll give it a try anyhow.

I love my Socom II and I need it to shoot to 250-300yds after that is just gravey. This is an awsome weapon to shoot a real head turner the power of the 7.62/.308 increadible. The concussive force off this round is amazing my wife will shoot the 12ga. but not this one. The kick is moderate though, definately manageable.

You're gonna love that M1A, with open sites it's good to about 350 yards easy. Put some nice optics on it and I'm sure you could reach out further. Here's mine:
