I just test drove me a 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited X today over at Don-A-Vee Jeep in Placentia, CA, and here's a link to all the photos I took of it

As far as my impressions of it goes.... damn this thing is long!! :eek!:
I'll post more thoughts in the morning

I went trough the pics and to be truly honest, the model is not reaching me at all. Eventough WOL took amazing pics, the JEEP looks like a low rider to me. And for having bend another fender this week end in the trail, I'm not sure either about those front fender flaire either :naw: but that's just me.

I'll try to drive by the local dealer to see what they have, if they have any :yup:

Yeah, I have to say, I was seriously starting to think that maybe I should get a 4-Door but after seeing it in person and giving it a drive, it'll be a 2-Door for me for sure. Granted, all stock Jeeps (TJ included) look a little fuddy-duddy to me but what got me the most was how ridiculously long this thing was. No joke, it looked and felt something like a limo. As far as the fender flares go, no big deal to me. They can be removed easily and I know of at least two manufacturers that are working on aftermarket rock fenders (not the Bushwacker pocket flares) that I'm sure will look great.

Actually, I just spoke with Jeff and they have a 2WD Unlimited in now and will have a Silver Sahara and a Red Rock X coming in later on this afternoon. Depending on when they come in, I will probably be going out again today :)

Alright guys, laugh it up :bleh:

In all honesty, I had a 2-Door Rubicon on order and I really didn't want to get a 4-Door. Hell, I haven't had a 4-Door anything in my garage for about 10 years and I wasn't about to start with this. But, after talking to a few of my friends in the industry and doing a lot of thinking, WOLette and I decided that the 4-Door was most likely going to be a hit and that it would do us well to get it instead. Besides, we already had a TJ, a CJ and a 2-Door XJ at the time and having the extra room would be nice - at least, that's what we convinced ourselves of before canceling our 2-Door order and placing an order for a 4-Door.

Now, having said all that, I can honestly say that getting a 4-Door was the best thing that we could have done as we absolutely LOVE this thing. It's still feels like a limo at times but man, does it ever ride nice thanks to the longer wheel base and on the trail, I have not found it's lenght to be a hinderance. In fact, in some cases, I have found it to be a big advantage. And, if I were to do it all over again, I can say with all sincerety that I would do it again.

So, yes, I am eating my words now and will say that I was WRONG about the 4-Door. For those who convinced me to get this thing, you were RIGHT :embarrased:

I love my 2 dr JK, and just being myself and my son couldnt justify the 4 door. Sometimes I regret it, but was curious what situations you found the longer wheel base to be an advantage. (I'm assuming you weren't just referring to extra doors/space/storage).

Mostly in places like Moab or when climbing up tall ledges. The longer wheel base allows you to keep your rear tires planted on the ground with good traction while your fronts get a good enough grip to pull you up and over. This is of course as oppose to having both front and rear tires fighting to climb up and over at the same time. But, the extra space is definitely a huge advantage as well especially since my family and I like to camp a lot. :)
