First offroad trip

I went on my first offroad trip today! This is my first Jeep, and I'm a total newb, but I don't want my Jeep crying itself to sleep at night, so I headed up into the Cascades this afternoon looking for logging roads. Well, I got lucky, and around about Gold Bar, WA, I found a whole network of trails, some of which I was willing to take a go at. (Number One Rule: Don't be the idiot who thrashes his new Jeep because he's too stupid to know his own skill level.)

The Jeep rocked! I put her in 4-lo, disconnected the sway bar, and crept over the rocks, mostly in 2nd gear. Went through a few mud puddles. Crossed a couple of (shallow) streams. Flexed a little bit. Rig did it all like it was nothing. Actually, if I hadn't been there, the Jeep would've probably tried out some of the tougher trails.

Yeah, I guess I've got a grudge against my phone ever since it started draining the battery every 5 minutes. But in certain lighting conditions, it does pretty good. I finally went and got a new battery before going out in the woods, since I don't have a cb yet. It's just gonna take a little time to repair the relationship. ;)
