I picked her up Thursday! Well she met me at the airport, but Wow! I drove it 700 miles to Huntsville, Wow! Have you ever been in your Jeep and looked at the speedo only to realize you were doing 85?! 2200 RPM's doing 75! Cruise control. Ever notice how your cruise control would be just a general speed range? Say 55 to 70? Well not anymore. I put it on 75 and it stayed at 75. Down hills, up hills, just stayed at 75 like a normal cruise control!
I have the Rock Hard skid plates and the engine and transmission skid had to be modified. But they came out good. The muffler, I don't think it's going to last too long. I hangs about as low as the gas tank skid. Only problem is my gas tank skid is kind of really scratched up. I love the sound. I guess I'll try to get it tucked up a little bit more or just let it get bashed in.
The seats. I did not have a major problem with the old ones, but I do like the new ones better. My wife loves the new ones though and they were for her. 700 Miles and the small of my back did not hurt. I would not have driven 700 miles before the swap.
The Atlas' Rear shifter is kind of forward a little too much, so it's a little hard you grasp the shifter. I'm thinking I could find some aircraft throttles and use those. We'll see.
I have not taken her off road yet, so I can't say much about anything else. And we are going to Barbados next week so it will be a while till I can see how well she behaves off road. But when we get back she'll be visiting Attica.
I've ordered the Aeroforce Interceptor so when we get back I'll be installing them and the front axle shafts. I also need to finish my air-box and snorkel. That's why you may have noticed the battery's in a new location.

What did the whole install run? Engine, trans, install kit, labor? I'm going to do the Hemi swap within the next year.

welcome to the club...I just got in myself!...I love my HEMI:thumbsup::thumbsup::ya:
 Looks good  As great as the Hemi is in the wrangler its just hard to believe you cant get it from the factory like that. I like how when you have the cruise set the tranny does not ever kick down at all unless your going up a hell of a grade. What snorkel are you going with? I'm waiting for AEV to get theirs finalized,

I wanted the RR but it's a 3" intake. So I'm not waiting and going to make my own.

18,100 plus tax. and worth every penny! I don't know what the tax ended up being as I had them do a lot more while they had it.

AEV's working on a Hemi Snorkel kit? Link to details? That honestly might sell me on a Hemi...
Regardless of this, I'm looking forward to seeing your snorkel solution. I simply can't give up mine... I like having it as insurance, and would believe it necessary to protect a hemi from hydrolocking.
Aside from that, congrats... that's sincerely amazing. I never thought I'd be so excited hearing a description of cruise control... exactly how it's supposed to function. haha Cruise control in my JK makes me miss my Tahoe sometimes. I usually snap back into reality and the recognize how awesome the Jeep is otherwise... but man a Hemi would make it a true, flawless obsession.

Did that include the Atlas and everything? (I'm guessing Kevin did those as well?)
That thing looks great. More and more I'm thinking about an Atlas when it comes time to upgrade, but that won't come until after gears lockers, and tires.

Well after 1300 miles on the interstate and being asked almost every time I got gas about the MPG's (Why is it the first words out of peoples mouths after nice Jeep is "what kind of gas mileage do you get?") I thought I'd post it here.
Going down to MO with the 3.8L, 3.73 gears, empty Jeep doing 70 to 75 I averaged 11.0 MPG's.
MO to KY with the 5.7L, 4.1, gears and with 2 extra front seats, drive shafts, pinion gears, rear axle shafts, 8 qts of oils, and luggage, guessing 70 to 90 MPH (not trying to do 90) 11.4 MPG.
KY to AL averaging 80 MPH (Testing cruise at 80 up and down hills) 10.0 MPG. Outside of wheelin I've never seen it that low before, But my jeep had never seen 80 before either.
AL to IL with 4 extra cases of Mountain Dew trying to keep it 75 MPH, Did a real good job until I had to drop the speed down to 55 because of the snow, 12.7. After dropping to 55 13.2 MPG's
My Jeep is rather heavy. front & rear bumper, roof rack, skid plates, winch, three batteries, 4 speed breaks disguised as lights, sitting on 305/65R18's so mileage hasn't been good in a long time.
Even with all the extra stuff thrown in the back, slightly lower gearing, it is better now then before! How can Chrysler justify not offering this as an option?
I still have not taken it off road. Not really any way. I did drive by Attica and told my wife we could always just stop for the night and go home after a short stop at the Badlands. She was having none of that as she seems to think Barbados is more appealing.

Corbeau had brackets, but they said they did not work with the air bag sensor. Kevin at 4WS adapted the stock brackets to work and retain the sensor. The seats are real nice. Way more comfortable then the sock ones. You need to be a small person though. By small I mean no more than a 36 inch waist. I now need to redo the back seats so they match the front.
As far as getting the Hemi out of your mind, I spent the last 9 days in Barbados and I had more than one dream about the sound of the Hemi accelerating through the gears.

Yes, 5.7L I could not save any longer for the 6.1 :)
And yes on the seats. Special edition ones. I really like the white stitching on the black and the silver harness and reclining mechanism. I just read the site, so I'll have to change my post to you have to be small as they only come in the 36"

Great Google-Moogle! That is fantastic. Screw the gas mileage, that has got to be such a smooth set-up to cruise in. Wheelin' just got more interesting...well, it'll probably get you into trouble more. I know I would definitely be wanting to use the power. That is great. Enjoy!

But for the money 18,100 plus the cost of your jeep you could have just bought the HUMMER for the same price.

I wonder how much it would have cost me me make it a convertible. Even then, I would have ran into the same problems I have with the Jeep. Every time I fail an obstacle, I have to go an mod the Jeep to get over it. But I think I'm done tackling the stuff I know I can't get over for a while. My checking account is near empty.

Let me start off by saying ....... WOW !!! That is Sweet !!!!!
Then let me say Thank GOD for not letting me talk myself into a HEMI ..... I went with the Ripp SuperCharger...... I am only comparing your results with my own !!!
Only cost me $4900 with shipping and I did the install myself in about 10 hours .... Then I paid an ASE Mechanic ( Best Friend ) $ 60 to double check everything on the splicing into the factory wiring harness and drink a couple BEER with me !!! I got the same effects with the cruise control ...... since I am only missing about 15 or 20 horses from the 5.7 Hemi !!!!
But to top it off ......... I am getting 16 MPG combined city and highway driving since I live in the country and I get to set the cruise @ 55 for 7 to 10 miles before getting to town................ And I was only getting 14.3 before the install !!! They claim after the setup breaks in the the fuel economy should increase !!!! And YES !! I do have 4.10 gears with 33 x 12.50 x 17 and a 6- Speed Trans !!!!
That is truly an awesome Jeep and I love the Seats !!!
since I am only missing about 15 or 20 horses from the 5.7 Hemi !!!!
:rotflmao1: :rotflmao2: Sorry, but that makes me laugh everytime I hear it. Have you driven a hemified JK? The hemi pulls hard all though the power band, not just above 3500 RPM. The SC is great for what it is, but you really cant say they are almost the same thing. The other thing nobody talks about when comparing the two is that with the SC your still stuck with a some what lame transmission with the autos.

A Hemi - Fied JK ?????
NO !!! A Hemi EVERYTHING ELSE !!!!! YES !!!
I KNOW the power the Hemi is capable of and as I mentioned ...... I have the MANUAL trans !!! I have all the power ( which starts around 1400 rpm ( not above 3500 rpm ) without all the AUTO TRANS Querks !!!:clap:
I took it to the Dealer to show it off today ...... The Owner of the Dealership has a JK Manual trans he is building and he could have ANY engine he wants but after driving my JK 6 - speed ......... He is now SERIOUSLY !!! saving his money !!!:thumbsup:
Like I said ...... I am only comparing MY results with YOUR stated results !!!! The Auto Trans may be diffrent !!:thumbsup:
