I can't believe what I am hearing Big D!!LOL!! Hey, we are using the Garmin 60csx here. And you know where I am at. Get the Ram Mount for it. And all the maps and tracks can be put on your laptop, loaded on the device and taken off and stored for future use. I am buying one when I get in and a 4gig card. This unit has expandable memory as well. Or go big and get the Lowrance Baja. Just my 2 cents.

Many people feel the Garmin 60CSx is the best all around GPS for offroad use. They used to sell for $600.00, you can now pick them up for under $300.00. Down side, you pay extra for their topo maps. On the other hand, you get what you pay for... their 100k maps have very good detail and tons of off road trails. Their newer 24k topo maps are even better.

I have been very happy with mine.

Here is a good in-depth review...

Same here, Garmin 60 CSx. Works great. I have heard good things about the Delorme stuff.

Hmmm... looking back at this thread, does it violate WOL's strict policy about mentioning non-advertisers on this forum? I know he pulled a thread on a Jeep Poker Run/BBQ here in Phoenix because of the organizer's refusal to pay an advertising fee. He's a Jeep salesman and uses his business address in his signature. BTW, a very Jeep friendly dealerships that gives great discounts on Jeep parts and labor.

If it is, please delete. If it's allowed to stand, fine.... :dontknow2:

Well, I know Slippery because he is a member of a Georgia club I am in. Good guy. I am posting from my experience being in and out of both Iraq and Afghanistan since early 2004. If what I am putting up violates me being here tough shit. You want experience with a particular GPS, well, these two I mentioned are hands down the best on the civilian market. I don't care for that policy if you are merely helping out a fellow jeeper than whats the problem? As you can see I don't post much, but if I do, it comes from first hand experience.

Well said... and thanks for your service!!

BTW, I wasn't pointing fingers at your friend. If you notice I also commented on a GPS that I don't think sponsor this forum. I asked only because I know people have been banned from here for a lot less when it came down to not being a forum sponsor..... :yup:

No worries brother. I just never felt that if I was helping someone out, I should not get dinged for it, or anyone for that matter. It just hit me wrong and I vented! I am guilty, I am human. Cool, have a good one!

Just no non sponsor clickable links, open and free discussion of products is no problem unless they are blacklisted . Reviews rules here.

WOW, just plain WOW.

As MK said, you REALLY need to review the rules, most of your comments there couldnt get much further from the truth.

I use the Garmin 60CSX, too. It does everything well as long as you are ok with the screen size. Do prepare for buying maps though.

funny, for a guy who seems to have all the answers, you tell me :naw:

I know he pulled a thread on a Jeep Poker Run/BBQ here in Phoenix because of the organizer's refusal to pay an advertising fee.

of course, being that you never once spoke to me about this, you sure have a way of speaking like you know things for a fact. :naw:

He's a Jeep salesman and uses his business address in his signature. BTW, a very Jeep friendly dealerships that gives great discounts on Jeep parts and labor.

funny, i never knew that "friendly" could be used to describe someone that purposefully proliferates hate for this privately owned forum and just because it's rules specifically states that manufacturers, vendors OR jeep dealerships cannot participate on this forum UNLESS they are a sponsor.

funny, it seems like you aren't trying to ask anything but rather, tell fabricated stories with no other purpose that to stir the pot. :naw:

manufacturers, vendors OR jeep dealerships DO NOT get banned from this forum if they are not a sponsor because they are NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE on it in the first place UNLESS they are a sponsor. now, that does not mean that some of them don't try to sign up anyway in an effort to skirt the system and when they do, yes, we do enforce our rules and ban those accounts.

perhaps you should take the time to read our rules and think for yourself as opposed to just believing the hate that some of these "friendly" salesmen have been telling you.

Geez!! No hate intended. Just asking and relating to what I know. Seems like I hit a nerve, but I never intended to piss you off....... thanks for the reply from the man himself, and setting me straight. A question still remains... is it okay to mention a run or event "if no reference is made to a business" and just an address is given?

Okay, got it. I re-read the rules and it looks like my GPS post is allowed since I didn't link directly to the manufacturer. Back to GPS talk.

Later.....

Cool! I guess we are good. I will post pics when I can as well of the GPS in use both here and in the US. As for maps, I have seen other places to get them. I do know Mac computers and Mapsource clash. Had that come up the other day. Hope this helps.
