Here are a few of the 100+ shots I took of fireworks on the 4th.

Cropped, sharpened, light/shadow adjusted, levels adjusted and then ran through the Topaz Labs DeNoise filter.

How do I take good pics of fireworks....Luck!!

I did a small amount of research on line. Started off at 5 seconds at F9 and adjusted from there. Ended up at F6.3 at 3 seconds seemed to work best for me. I also set the focus at infinity. Verfied by finding a building as far as I could find and focused on.

They do look like palm trees. I titled the photo Iced Palm Trees.

Exposure times vary depending on the effect you are looking for and the luminosity of the subject. I use a shutter speed of between 2-8 seconds and an f stop between f stop between 5.6 to 11. I get the best results with in manual mode, a Bulb shutter speed setting and a cable release where I can control the shutter speed duration based upon the luminosity of the fireworks.
