New Rockstars on my JK

Hey all.....so i have been wanting a set of KMC Rockstars since i got my JK 2 months ago....they were on backorder until last week when my shop finally got them in.....

18" KMC Rockstars with 285-65-18 Nitto Terra grapplers....i think it looks great and i am soo happy.....

i am a little unsure if i wanna run em without the center caps or if i wanna mod the center caps to be closer to the rim ( wil start a poll thread soon)...

Looks good with the plastic caps off.... Just hit the center of the hub with some black Krylon...

IMO it looks unfinished without the center cap. That's part what of makes them Rockstars. I'd try toning down the center caps by painting them black.

I'm sorry, but I'm soo damn tired of the RockStars. I don't know what people see in them. I think they are WAY too blingy for my taste.

But, if you want my opinion about the caps, leave them off, makes them look less blingy.

center caps are butt ugly. look at the pictures yourself. the jeep looks way tougher without em.

You kidding me? Nitto terra grapplers street tires? Could be one of the best riding ALL terrain tires out right now.

But I understand, you just dont like rockstars.:naw:they are OK all terrains. BFG s are still better. I have run both.... but they suck off road

Got the same wheels on my Jk and was tore on what to do just like you are. I cut 3/4 of an inch off the studs on the cap, and cut the bolts as well(screw nuts on bolts before cutting to fix the threads after you cut). Looks much much better IMO.

Your JK looks good with them but please get a tire cover if you arent gonna get a spare. It will only set you back $50.

Josh....your JK was the one that i used when i was making my decision on what wheel i wanted.....i did a little back and forth with your pics i found on here and another with Moto metals and my wife and a few other friends all liked the rock stars.....so THANKS :thumbsup:........i was thinking about cutting the studs and using shorter bolts (i have them in all lengths at my job in stainless steel) so i may try that.....

as far as the spare i was thinking about ordering a spare wheel but the shop i got them from didnt have 5 in stock plus i am gonna have my stockers powder coated black probably and have the tires put back on without the white letters so that ought to look better than the silver wheel....i just havent found a tire cover i like and my cnavas guy is too busy to make me one out of Sunbrella like i wanted.....

as i said in my last post i dont expect everyone to like them but i do so basically that is what matters....

as far as the "street tires" they are great tires IMHO.... unfortunetly i drive my JK 15-20K a year and 99.9% of those miles are on Pavement so off road tires are not for me....i want them to be quiet and perform well in all daily conditions which the Terra Grapplers do extremely well (this is not my first set of Grapplers)

however if you do decide to make a ground efects kit for JKs i have a neighbor that would be all over one..LOL.....

I don't mind the Rockstars all that much, rather it's the stock spare that you didn't replace that just looks awful and a job not quite completed. You gotta invest the extra $$$ and order an extra rim or remove the factory spare at the least.

Looks good with the star....I am a Cowboys fan:yup: I think the caps look ok, Just paint the star black and they will not be too blingy as some have said, or just leave em as they are since that is the rim that caught your attention.

was just talking with my brother....he brought up a valid point....no need to take the rockstars off in the winter since they are painted not chrome so they wont pit and get crappy looking....i may sell the stockers and get a matching spare sooner than later.....

here are some updated pics. new pro comps last week. man do these make a bid difference on how it looks now did have stock Sahara tires on these.
