Cobra CB $32

Well, wasn't planning on getting a CB, but Big Lots has a Cobra CB radio on sale. Doesnt say anything about model in the flyer, but the picture and description matches the 19 DX IV. I think this is their most basic unit. I am not sure how much I am going to use it, but for $32 I think its a good to have........... What do you guys think? Good enough for a newbie?

On a related note, in looking for the same kind of thing I saw the wally mart has once for like $35 online - Cobra 19 Ultra III.

It is a good deal if you will only be using it occasionally. I use mine only when wheeling so I can communicate with the rest of the group along the trail. Originally bought it to use in my KJ and got a Cobra mag mount antenna to use with it. Got both on Ebay for a total of about $55.

Not sure as I actually have an older CB I need to install as soon as I get around to it. I will need a new antenna and cable for it which would cost about the same. I might have to swing by Big Lots and look at it. One thing about thier electronics to watch is many of them are refurbished which is not a bad thing but they are not new but like new.

So, you can do 2 things here:

1. Go to garage sales, I see CB's for 5-10 dollars ALL DAY LONG and buy one

2. Buy your new CB for $32 dollars and I will buy it from you at a garage sale a few months later for $5 :yup:

Be sure you REALLY want one, and if you do, get a used one for cheap

I bought the same $32 dollar one from big lots last year. I have it in my CJ and it works just fine. Its basic but most people really don't need much more. Your antenna will make the most difference of how well a CB works.

Am thinking of the Cooltech ultramount for the antenna.......will pick up the CB tomorrow.....

Intalled Cobra 75 WX ST, the one where everything is in the handset. On sale at Campingword, $79.00. I will only use when wheeling with others and when going RVing to talk to wife in Jeep when not towing. Have not really had a chance to test it yet. Next weekend I will.

Just got it, seems to be a decent device, never used a CB, any suggestions on installation in my JK? prefer not to drill holes for now......will order cooltech's ultramount.....

A expensive c b without a good antenna sounds worse than a cheap c b with a good antenna.

FWIW, I bought a Cobra radar detector and had nothing but problems with it from the day I bought it. Not saying their CB's are bad, but I had issues with their customer service and that kind of turned me off to their brand.
