Off Road in Hawaii

Made it off road this weekend. Climbed a 5 mile trail up the mountain in the background. The JK made short work of the narrow trails, two creeks and 50 degree climbs up mixed terrain. The YJ that was with us lost it's four wheel drive (bad vaccuum) and I was able to winch him out of a 115 foot ditch. I will post some more from this climb later this week.

him and i both are on Oahu (where Pearl Harbor is). he's on the east side, north of honolulu/waikiki. i'm more central in a mountainous area; a short drive from the north shore.

i was stationed out there for 3 years. down here in hurricane alley(panhandle of florida) and needed to get back. I'll be there soon enough.

i rented one when i was there and did some sweet offroading! there are alot of sweet trails there....

First, yes that is an abandoned car on the trail (how that Honda got up there is an interesting proposition). Secondly. The pictures were from the same trail but before the winch was installed. The pics below are the poser shot with the winch and one from the Waikane valley which claimed two tires that day.

I'll definately shoot you guys some messages when we get there. I'll be splitting time between the jeep and the bike. Definately looking forward to it. I'm definately going to take advantage of any trails out there. I've seen some pics with guys off roading on the big island and such. Riding over lava fields. Looks so sweet. Definately on the "to do" list.

Sooo happy. Dealership messed up my jeep when ordered. Came with full doors and not half doors. Half doors came in today. Looks great. I'll d/l some pics tonight when I get home. Only thing missing....mud...
