$4,500 Transformed this Jeep into a Surveillance Hub
Here’s an up-fitting project you probably never considered for your Jeep.
Then again, spending $4,500 to convert a Jeep into an underground surveillance vehicle isn’t the typical customizing project. But I get the impression that Atlanta resident Drew Porter isn’t your typical Jeep owner.
Earlier this year, Porter decided to embark on a project that would turn his Grand Cherokee into a roving spy van, loaded with everything from huge antennas to high-tech software, as highlighted in a SF Gate report.
Why, you ask? So that he can intercept radio signals from police dispatchers, mobile phones, and infrastructures like floodgates. And to prove a point, of course.
“It’s like the early 2000s,” said Porter, who got turned onto surveillance while working for a defense contractor. “We are so connected with everything, and our connectivity is just increasing.”
Ah, okay, now it all makes sense. Uh, not really. But as I noted earlier, Porter isn’t your typical Jeep owner.
