Diamond Plate Jeep Is Certainly One of a Kind

If there is one thing I can say about this poor Florida mail Jeep, at least it confirms my belief that art school is a waste of time.

This monstrosity was conceived by its “artist” to be a statement on durability. So, what did this rhetorical visionary think was the best way to do that? By taking off all of the body and replacing every panel with stainless steel diamond plate and calling it “Janx”. While, I suppose you can’t deny the strength and life of stainless steel diamond plate, you can question the amount of weight that has been added. I wonder if “Janx” is French for something other than “attractive.”

Traditionally, as an artist, you want your signature or initials to go as unnoticed as possible. Well, apparently that is no longer the train of thought at this person’s art school. Or maybe she missed that class, as her initials “Y Y” are extra large and in as many places as possible: the front grill, the front of the front fenders, the side of the front fenders, the sides of the bed, the rear tail gate, and in the floor for drainage. You can’t escape it!

YY claims it’s a “show stopper”, that it’s “the Holy Grail of any collection,” but we say you just ruined a perfectly good CJ Jeep and are trying to sell this crap for a craptastic price of $42K. No, we have not made that up, and the price is “firm.” Only in Florida, folks.

“I have owned many antique and unique cars throughout my life. I just wanted one that was one of a kind, durable and fabricated,” says YY in the Craigslist ad selling this piece of … art. Well, she didn’t fail on the “fabricated” part, but most of the fabrication is how she’s calling this an “art piece.”

If you want to buy YY’s museum-quality Jeep, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be sitting for a while, but at least it won’t rust away immediately.
