Flame-Spitting Jeep Trophy Truck Wows the Crowds
Casey Currie Takes This Off-Road Trophy Truck for a Tire-Squealing Run at Monza
Monza is a track best known for sports cars and open wheelers. But during the Monza Rally Show, all manner of wild off-road and rally vehicles are assembled for a raucous time. Casey Currie took the opportunity to wow the crowds with this unholy abomination of a Monster-liveried, Jeep-grilled, fire-spitting Pro 2 truck. The Italian crowds are likely not accustomed to how we do big race trucks Stateside. But that doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy it all the same.
The grille on this thing appears to be most similar to the Jeep KJ Liberty of the mid-2000s. But obviously that was never sold as a pickup truck. And it definitely didn’t sound this good. Still, this thing is pure awesome, regardless of how little Jeep DNA is actually involved. A giant race-bred, high-revving V8 engine lies under the hood, and serves up enough torque to get the truck to rotate basically on-demand.

The big meaty tires and floppy, compliant suspension are great for running across the open desert or negotiating the whoops of a Lucas Oil Off Road course. However, they’re not ideal for the tight turns and hairpins of this makeshift course. But we’re always most excited by racers that are a bit out of their element, as it adds another level of skill. Currie’s got that in spades. And he sure seems to be having fun out there, too. Hard to blame him, right?
