We’ve all heard the old adage, “don’t believe everything you read.”

That idea holds true even more for today’s social media world, where deciphering what is fact or fiction often boils down to the number of likes a post has garnered. But the story about a fake Facebook page claiming to be giving away a 2016 Grand Cherokee SRT is an even clearer reminder that social media portal is full of some of the least trust-worthy sources around.

In fact, the fake page, called 4×4 Warehouse, claimed to be giving away not one but five Grand Cherokee SRTs. The scam was actually brought to the attention of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin, who have been warning people about the fake page.

According to Channel3000, scammers use fake incentives like the Jeep giveaway to garner likes, then sell the Facebook page on the black market to launch other types of scams.
