Nothing beats an SRT and a pizza. Now go order a large steaming cheese pizza and feast with me over the video below, showing a twin turbo SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee hammering hot 9-second quarter-mile times at the dragstrip.

The SRT brand has been piping hot ever since they were established close to a decade ago. This video is a great example of how entertaining some of the first SRT vehicles still are. This is a first generation SRT Jeep Grand Cherokee, the one which laid the foundation for the love affair people have with all the generations of this SRT model today.

It might be the traditional Grand Cherokee styling coupled with Goliath power that ignites the fire of love. But I think it’s the traction system. Their legendary all-wheel drive systems add performance few other SUVs are capable of delivering in this vehicle segment, especially a track-oriented one. Very rare. The advanced multi-terrain all-wheel-drive system is the perfect layout to add big power tools, like turbos, for racecar power. Beefy body, suspension, and all mechanical power transmitting componentry is just waiting to be doctored for off-road or track performance.

This first generation SRT JGC has a 6.4L V8 producing over 400 HP at over 5000 pounds of curb weight, so getting this SUV down to 9-second quarter-mile times is quite a feat. BigKleib34‘s video says this one has twin turbos, but no ratings of HP or TQ, so I’m not sure. I was thinking it had to have over 600 HP, but with some light calculations and watching how hard the SRT JGC is launching, I presume this fella must have close to 800, maybe even up to 1000 HP. Regardless, this thing is way overpowered, but right in my wheelhouse. Fortunately, this dragstrip ninja has a parachute on the SRT too.

My favorite part of the video is when the SRT with warm tires gets the fastest time of 9.62 seconds. Great launch, good line, and it’s a winner!

Have you ever custom turbocharged your Grand Cherokee? How was the process? Did you get the results you wanted, like this 9-second SRT guy?
