It’s an exciting time to be involved with Fiat Chrysler and crazy engine swaps. On July 1st, Fiat Chrysler revealed the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and its amazing 707-horsepower, tire-melting V8 Hemi. While we can’t predict who will be the first to install a Hellcat Hemi into a JK, we can show you why this is exciting. Here are the details of the SRT Hellcat 6.2-liter Hemi V8.

By now, you’ve seen all of the burnout videos; however, you probably haven’t heard much about the engine itself. It’s an amazing mix of brute force, high technology, and a supercharger. Yep, that’s right, for the first time in Chrysler history, a Hemi V8 will come from the factory with a supercharger. Not only that, but the Challenger SRT Hellcat will come with two keys; a black one that limits engine power to 500 horses, and a red key that will unlock the full power and torque of that supercharged Hemi.

It also has a special block and crank made just for the increased pressure and boost. The cylinder heads have been improved for higher flow rates and improved performance. The pistons and rods are also special, manufactured by hot-forging for increased durability. SRT went all out on the Hellcat Hemi V8, so we can’t wait to see an all-out JK using this amazing engine.
