It looks like the top brass at Jeep can finally breathe a sigh of relief over one issue that has been haunting the company.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has closed an investigation on one of Jeep’s major safety issues that has been lingering for a while now. It involved the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system in more than 95,000 2014-15 Jeep Grand Cherokees, according to the Detroit News.

As a matter of fact, the NHTSA’s preliminary investigation found that the Jeeps under question performed “well or better than peer vehicles” during the testing process.

More specifically, the findings rebut two specific claims about the AEB system equipped in the investigated Cherokees. One being that the maximum brake activations that can be commanded by the system are “limited in both braking force and duration.” And two, that the “the system is not capable of achieving full ABS braking, as alleged in some complaints, unless driver brake application triggers the Advanced Brake Assist (ABA) mode.”

So it looks like that’s one less thing to worry about.
