hayride rollover

A 1979 Jeep CJ-5 is now the center of attention in a scary-turned-tragic Halloween hayride in Maine.

The Jeep, registered as a farm vehicle in the state, has been impounded as police investigate an accident in which 17-year-old Cassidy Charette was killed during a hayride, according to a Press Herald report.

Apparently, the Jeep was towing a trailer of people during a haunted hayride at Harvest Hill Farms when the accident occurred. Now, officials are looking into whether the load exceeded the Jeep’s rated capacity.

Altogether, 22 passengers were injured on the hayride at Harvest Hill Farms in Mechanic Falls, Maine. Charette’s boyfriend,  Connor Garland, who was also on the hayride is listed in stable condition as are two others who were involved in the accident.

This is an unfortunate reminder that despite how capable Jeeps are, they, too, have their limits.
